When Lumoria first came out, it received praise for its hybrid exploration-action style and its storyline. However, years after it came out, the need for attention to detail started to come out after the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Refined, another mod for Halo PC and Custom Edition. Many have discussed about a Refined version of Lumoria, and the project started on March 18. When the work on the Refined version was finished, it was released on July 11.
