Post news Report RSS Introducing: The Jawa Sandcrawler

Greetings again Troopers! We are going to try to be a little more regular with our news updates from now on as we start to move forwards again with more momentum towards our next batch of big releases. Today I want to reveal to you the final finished version of the Jawa Sandcrawler. Sure, you've seen the impressive untextured version of this model in the past, but I think you'll agree the texture and last little bits of polish and additional bells and whistles make all the difference.

The caterpillar tracks have been much improved with additional geometry and texture detailing which will really make them pop out at you when you see them in game. Also the detailing of the interior is now complete, and these images show you just a tantalising glimpse of what is inside. Rest assured you're going to have plenty of fun with this towering behemoth, the tactical applications are limitless, you've basically got a slow moving, but heavily armoured siege tower. When crossing those wide open desert expanses that leave you vulnerable to sniper fire this will become a must have asset. As you can imagine, the fight for command of this invaluable vehicle will be fierce. However the Sandcrawler truly starts to shine when you advance on a dug in enemy position and deploy the loading ramp, giving you access to not just the ground, but balconies, or any tactically advantageous high ground the huge ramp can reach.

Pah, and to think those damned dirty Jawas just use it to haul junk around.

Can you enter that thing through the hatch? And is it drivable - like 2 miles/hour ;) or is this only a prop to make your map look nice?

Cool sandcrawler. Good texture detail that really does the trick.

As mentioned in the article this will be a drivable vehicle. I believe we may have a static wrecked one also on this map to represent a certain scene from a certain 30 odd year old film.

;)

But you will definitely have one you get to drive and battle over. Thing is, this is a neutral asset, so either faction could capture it and use it. And if the enemy has it, then what is to stop you trying to raid it and capture it for yourself? So even if you are in command of the Sandcrawler there is a chance that the enemy might board this slow moving vehicle and take it from you. The fun gameplay possibilities are endless.
