From HL2Files : Half-Life Radio posted news that they talked with Doug Lombardi from Valve about the release of Half-Life 2.

Bottom line is: Half-Life 2 will go Gold in August, but will be released in the fall of this year. Just a little bit longer folks! :D

i would not be thaaaaaaat sure this will happen... they surely leak some more code and delay it another year :P
I believe it WILL come out at the ETA. If not, Valve/Vivendi are gonna lose out on a LOT of popularity/reputation ... and i don't think they can afford it anymore!
Just sit back, relax, play HL1 again, tune in daily to HL2Files.com and wait for HL2 to finally hit shelves! ;)
HL2 coming in sept is just a fairytale anouncement from Valve, after CS:CZ went gold it took 6(!) months before it finally hit the shelves. HL2 is a much bigger game so expect it at least 6 months or more after/if it goes gold in August. It going gold in Aug doesn't mean it will be released in Sept, my guess it will be available to buy around Feb 2005, you can hope all you want but be realistic.

I have to agree with SkitZay, I've had a guts full waiting for even a bloody demo, and that thing about leaked code is crap.
