Well, if you live under a rock or in outer space, you are probably out of the loop of gaming/modding news. As many of you know The Hot Coffee Mod did some digging in the GTA SA code and found a little provocative, yet pixel, sex scene. Patrick, the coder that he is, decided to show the world his skills and turned what he'd found into, what he would deem, a work of art. Who would have ever thought that doing this would change how one game is rated and the possible future of gaming and modding.

It amazed me that in this day and age we still blame others in order to achieve something.

I did some research and spoke to some people to write this article. Please feel free to add your opinion to the article.

Perhaps a few things will change in the US of A, but not for us over here, in Europe.

We laugh at the mod and nobody worries about it. The people making a fuss about this should lighten up.

I'm pretty sure everyone on this site agrees with me about that..

The mod unlocked existing content that was hidden by Rockstar from the ratings board and later lied about. That is the only issue here. Nobody has accused the modders of anything.

Exactly, only those stupid American conservative people could make such a fuss about something this stupid. It still amazes me how those Americans find gory and very voilent scene's in games and movies OK, but as soon as one tiny little nipple is shown they make rediculous discussions, they make stupid theories like the title of this news post and a game nearly escapes being BANNED... I wonder if some of those conservative people DO realise that this is the 21st century and that; getting devorced, going to stripclubs and just openly talk about sex (as long as there are no children listening) is all normal. And if you call such a stupid little thing like, OMFG....no....A SEX SCENE IN A GAME a problem... Your just a ******* lonatic....

Instead of busying themselfs with the war in Iraq or those poor people in Africa, were every 2 minutes a child dies, those stupid politicians rater busy themselfs with nonsense like this... Nobody will forget a war, but this little sex scene will be forgotten news within 1 year.

On a side note, you know what's fun? Consistent tense within a sentence.

1 thing to say: y would u cover sex scenes ? theres huge/extreme violence, course language, gore, robbery/stealing,gangs..ect and if u see a tiny sex scene the adults go OMFG. they can't continue to do that and realise we will see alot of it in the future.

the people making a big fuss are ppl who probably not getting laid

nuff said, i hope our generation amek some big changes

I can see why Americans find European people weird... We accept just about everything, I'm from The Netherlands. We were the first to allow gays/lesbians to get married, we also allow older people who are in a constant pain to kill themself, with an injection of course. The thing is, we in Europe don't find Americans weird, just a TINY LITTLE BIT old-fashioned...

Will Modding Be Changed As We Once Knew It?

No.

And sensational attention grabber headlines like that are pretty bogus.

the politicians have been after GTA for ages, this is nothing new at all.

This is new cause this is the only game in history to have had this happen to. If i wanted you to tell me how to write a article I would of emailed you first. If you want to be a smart *** do it on your own site!

So what do YOU think's gonna happen, BlueWolf?

The end of the world? Modders houses getting broken into by officers of the law ?

excuse me if im abit cynical of politicians ...they have agendas for getting elected into positions of power, and this is just a handy little stepping stone that can make them loook socially responsible.

Additionally, there is no need to respond *quite* so savagely. I wasn't criticizing your article (it was finely written), I was stating that your title was melodramatic given the history of violent games and politicians.

kthx

I think they should've kept it AO all along, if only they allowed some of those titles in retail stores (with a white film covering it like those porn videos). That way, you still got the core audience buying the games (I mean, waiting one year from when you're 17 to 18 won't be that long), and the sales won't be hampered.

But hey, that's my opinion. I seriously doubt they're going to lash out on the modders, because it's just like attacking indy directors -- it just won't solve anything when they have nothing to do with the incident.

17+ = M, 18+ = AO

What a difference a year makes eh?

Everyone I know could careless about this silly story

The solution to the problem is parental overwatch, not politicians and ratings boards choosing what I can and cannot play

Politicians just use voilence and sex in video games as a crutch to explain away problems that are caused by entirely different things

Anyway, I am tired of hearing this story...I finished GTA:SA Yesterday, and it was fun too...

The article is a bit over the top with its claims etc I do agree. But the real issue here is the precidents it sets.

Soon these parents will be calling for games like this to be banned, its stupid to think i know - but these are real issues

Although the issue really is Rockstar lying about the content, I just wanna say something about this "OH NOES SEX" garbage. People that are more offended by sex than they are by murder and maiming need to drink some bleach. If your child is old enough to pretend to murder someone, he/she sure as hell should know what the hell sex is, as well as how to do it in at least 3 positions. That's kinda part of maturity, understanding your own body as well as what you're here for. We're organisms designed to breed. Don't the school shootings and ridiculous number of pedophiles tell people something? "Oh wow, maybe there's something a little off with what we're doing!"

Rockstar should've been totally honest about content, yes. Then again, it is a GAME. A woman is not going to crawl out of your TV and suck your child's *****. Parents: it's sex. Suck it up and tell your kids about it, then you're not gonna have anything to worry about, because YOU have set the facts straight. Not like that's going to happen, but hey, here's for wishful thinking.

"You wouldn't like it if someone stole from you, so respect other people's possesions. Hurting people accomplishes nothing and and just hurts you in the long run, so use words instead of violence. Sex is a natural function of the human body, but with it comes great responsibility. If you're ready to give up your life and mother/father a child, then by all means, go for it." A kid listens to their parents a lot more than you might think as long as you don't neglect them during their early years. If more parents would pay some attention and tell their kids these things, games like this could easily get a T rating.

I mean come on. Pac Man devoured souls. That's pretty sick.

To me, GTA games are rated ******' 'E' ...

The violence is goofy as ****, and the premise, while sensitive to the subject matter and believable, is almost always overdrawn and hyperbolic, like a cop drama or whatever....It's all lunacy, and the sooner ppl accept it as that, and get over it, the better.

It should have been AO anyway, as people have said. Their mistake was to make a big deal out of the sex scene, it's so hyped up... Now the GOP is starting to take advantage of this and use this as an excuse to set loose their christian ideology to eat away at our freedom... So long freedom to develop whatever game you want !

I'm glad this site has more people that think the same way I think about this crap. This is an issue? No, if we make such a discussion about little stupid stuff like this, we are nothing better then that Ms. Clinton bitch with her army of strict-christian deadheads.

This content was already in the PS2 editions as well - it was only unlocking what some fool in Rockstar 'accidentally' left on the DVD. It has nothing to do with modding! Developers shouldn't leave all this crap on the game disk anyway.
