So some of you are probably wondering what Heavy Gear Forever game play will be like.

The 1st thing any gear pilot will have to learn how to do, is modify their gear. There are a host of perks, flaws, and weapons you will be able to add to your gear.

Perks: Perks do good things for your gear, an example of a perk would be Reinforced Chassis. This obviously makes your chassis a little bit stronger. Another perk would be Satelite Uplink. This perk allows you and your entire team to use you as a communications relay point to call in heavy artillery and air strikes.

Flaws: Flaws more often than not are the actual absence of a system or part on the gear. For instance Poor Off Road Ability. This Flaw simply means your gear lacks the normal system, and your gear will move slower in certiain terrains. A more harsh flaw would be Random Shutdowns. With this flaw, if you over tax your gear (ie in the middle of a fight) you could find yourself in a rather sticky situation.

Gears have a host of other stat ratings: Manuver, Fire Control, Walk/Run Speeds, Sensor Ranges, and Armour.

Weapons: This is the good stuff! You have everything from a 20mm Auto Cannons, Morters, Grenades, Rocket Packs, and a host of energy weapons. Plus there are a whole host of Infantry weapons. Keep in mind that there are 2 modes of game play in HGF, semi modding and full modding. In semi, your going to be limited to what the orignal game by Dream Pod 9 says your can carry. In full modded, it is going to be a free for all of how you want to combine things. Full modded is meant to be fun, and allow people to play a faster paced game.

The 2nd and equally important thing to remember for HGFs Objective based game play, is money! You only get so much so often. And if your team is losing its supply line, you will find yourself hiding from 7000kg Gears and their arsenal of ammunition.

For Objective based game play, Infantry and Gear Pilot alike will play major roles. Obviously a gear can't fit in a small cavern. Going in as a pilot is going to be risky and expensive if your gear gets highjacked. The logical solution is to get air lifted to the location, and hit the tunnels to sabotage your enemies power grid, or communications systems.

Map sizes we hope will be roughly 7-10km long and 4-5km wide. We are testing these map sizes to see if they will work.

Something to keep in mind: Gears are not super huge monsters bots. They range from about 4.3 meters high, up to about 7-8 meters. They carry deadly firepower! Relatively speaking, a gear is like a tin can with dynamite strapped to it.

That is just a snippit of one type of game play HGF is offering.

Cheers,

Plat

PS: Good Luck to the US lead coalition of Men & Women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. God's Speed to you all!
