Mod DB isn't usually a place for editorials; but some recent news going through the queue has, I feel, made this one necessary. We strive to provide you all with as much modding goodness as we can, but in order to do this we need quality content. It's up to you to provide that content. However;
Much as you may want to show off your unskinned MP5 render, we've seen it before. We want to see fresh and exciting things, not just another weapons model render. Get some in-game images in there. Interesting skins, concept art, you get the idea. Tell us what you've been up to, say a few words about what you've been doing in the last week...
Before you post something to the main page, think "Will other people who know nothing about my mod want to see this?" If you say "Yes" then carry on, chances are it will end up on the front page. If "Maybe", give it a go. It will either make it or it won't. If it's a definate "No", please don't put it up for the main page and keep it in mod profile. Authing, moving or deleting these things takes time.
Well, that's it from me. Have fun, keep modding, and lets see some more content!

*Agree*
/me looks at the news page as it stands right now
Clearly some people don't bother reading this sort of news before posting their own...
*sigh*
Right on the button my friend. Couldn't agree with you more.
Besides this helps encourage other modders to pick up the game qualities to give us a better show in the stands.
You said it perfect.
I agree. I wouldn't mind a sentence of background info on each mod either.
We don't necessarily have this luxary because we need fresh news constantly ticking over. No point wait 2 days between good posts.
I really don't understand why some modders spend 2 minutes on a news article which will go infront of moddb's 50,000+ daily audience. you think they would spend a little time on it considering how important such promotion is!
Finally someone did something :D
*golf clap* well played
this is EXACTLY why I don't post news about my mod on modb for the main page. Who really cares if I figure out a new algirithum or come upwith a theoritical design that's been done.... well, I do but i don't consider it anything worth shouting from the mountaintops for.
:)
I understand about the need for news though. PlanetDoom normally has 2 days between posts & PlanetHalfLife is like Moddb... for valve base products. :)
...fresh multigun, which got declined >:(
I'd also include Concept Art with unskinned renders.
We don't need to see it! It just makes you look like you haven't anything else done.
I only show In-game Images in my news ;)
I don't like you.
I want to show off my MP5 render!
Wait I don't have any :( only new and fresh multigun...
how about lame furry mods that never got past the 2 years of concept stage
