I just sucessfully implemented one of the many secret modification features I have been testing. This feature which is exclusive to modifications only (thus far) allows them to setup their very own mymod.moddb.com subdomain which can point to a URL of their choice! Many would probably see it as useless however here are a few benefits which some mods may rejoice...
- One URL - Does your mods URL constantly change? Get a mymod.moddb.com URL and it is yours for people to visit even if your modification were to change address, saving them seeing a 404!
- Short URL - Get rid of that insanely complex URL no one remembers nor respects or visits like Geocities.com
- More Professional - Its short, its sweet, and best of all it is mod related!
So if you run a modification and this feature is just what you are after you can find it available in your mods control panel! Oh and for those non believers I setup a test example which points to the sample mod profile Sample.moddb.com
This feature was inspired by popular sites which offer a virtually identical service such as .cjb.net
I thought many modifications may find it extremely handy and hence i coded it in. If many people want its functionality extended futher I may just add features such as hit tracking / subdomains i.e. (subdomain.mymod.moddb.com)
