Next on our list of lighter enemy craft is the fighter. These agile ships form the backbone of the smaller class of the alien's invasion force. Deployed in large numbers, these ships will relentlessly pursue the player, raining down a continuous stream of laser fire.

Unfortunately, fighters are not exclusive to larger assault formations that boast a carrier or super battlecruiser, as the aliens have developed highly advanced warp-hole technology, allowing for the deployment of fighters with even the smallest of battle groups. Once opened, a warp-hole will transport a multitude of fighters from the alien's solar system directly onto the field of battle, ready to destroy any opposition.

While around three to four fighters will relentlessly pursue the player, the majority will protect the larger fleet, ready to disrupt a player's attempted bombing run to destroy the capital ships. Thankfully for the player, the enemy fighters don't have as tight a turn radius as the player, meaning a few quick moves and a circle spin will outmaneuver the enemy and put the player on their six. Another alternative is to fire off a barrage of missiles, which will quickly annihilate even a large pack of fighters. Thirdly, a favorite of the developers, is to lure a few fighters into a thick asteroid cluster, then eject a Sonic Bomb at the fighters or asteroids, destroying the annoying fighters and insta-mining a sizable amount of crystals in the process, killing two birds with one stone!
