Well, you've seen the tanks. Now, just to show you that there will be something in Carpathian Crosses for tankers and infantry fans alike - we proudly present the Russian M-1939 mortar. Isn't she beautiful?

This was produced in large numbers and was standard kit in Russian infantry units up until 1943. It was also used, when captured, by German and Finnish forces and was later exported to China and Vietnam.

The mortar requires a crew of 2 experienced troops to operate effectively, throwing a 50mm HE round up to 800 metres. The skill comes in one crewman setting the angle (45 or 75 degrees) and judging the correct settings of the mechanism at the base, adjusting the power of the shell's launch, whilst his mate carries out range-finding and spotting duties.

In the hands of two skilled crewmen working together this mortar is a deadly addition to the RO arsenal.

And, as if that weren't enough, we bring you a few sneak peek of new weapon sounds and Romanian voice commands. We think the voice commands are great step in bringing Romania's role in the Ostfront to life. Many thanks to Vlad for the voice-actor work.

The three sounds below are the "We're burning!" tank alert, the artillery confirmation message and the 50mm mortar launch sound. No prizes for guessing which is which. Check them out HERE!

Very nice! :D One thing though...how exactly do you "adjust the power of the shell's launch"? I never heard of this feature on a mortar before...

Your models are really looking cool. More like drawings - badass ones - than 3D. Really distinctive style. What prog do you use for textures, PS? Looks really sweet and promising. Keep up updating with more beauty!

Leedeth, on the bottom of the mortar there is a collar which opens or closes a vent. With the vent open, more gas can escape and the mortarshell gets less speed => less range. Same vice versa, a closed vent, more thrust, the farer the shell flies.
