After weeks of working in secret we are now ready to announce our project to the public.

Carpathian Crosses - The Romanian Army in World War II

This is going to be an add-on for Red Orchestra - Ostfront '41-'45, this means you can play standard maps along with maps like Usatovo or Chisinau. We will introduce new player models, new vehicles and new weapons to the game along with additional gameplay features.
Make sure to check our website over at:

Carpathiancrosses.com

Or you can join in on our IRC channel at #carpathiancrosses on the irc.gamesurge.net server! While you are waiting for new media (which we plan to give out quite often), we hope you can make yourself comfortable in our forums. To continue the tradition from the RO mod times, we created an "Ideas and Suggestions" forum where you can give your input and help the mod to improve.

We are always looking for talented guys to help us out, if you feel you have what it needs (beside skill, time and dedication is the most important), contact us. We can use basically every skill, like modeling, texturing, animating etc. Do you think you can handle it? Do you feel like you have what it takes to make this succeed? Contact us at dev@carpathiancrosses.com To show off some of our work we got you the Romanian R-35 tank. Hope you enjoy the pics.

people tend to forget that not every tank was a Panzer VI B, and not every tank was built in 1944.
The romanian tank units were rather bad equipped, but the tanks they had (even the R-2's) did their job
in the Basarabia campaign, where they mainly faced the weaker, early war tanks of the soviets like the t-26
or the BT series.

Awesome. It's a shame that there aren't more games and mods that pay homage to the real history of WW2. :)

Another WWII game. Lovely.

The glut has been of American WWII games set in France: this sort of thing is utterly different, and in a completely different part of the world. Personally, I think it's going to be great! :)

dude - I didn't know Renault was a weapon manufacturer, too. This is one tiny tank - it makes me laugh. But it's a beautiful render and probably a fine ride, too. Just been wondering what you are supposed to shoot with that thing? Its too small to destroy houses and too big for a machine gun. So what is this tanks role?

How comes the romanians were using r35? Was it because the germans supplied them with them, after they took over the fabrics of renault in france?

In December 1937 negotiations started with France for setting up in Romania of a production line for armoured vehicles. The planned production included 200 Renault R-35 tanks but the deal could not be completed and eventually the tanks were ordered from France. In late September 1939 a number of thirty-four Polish R-35 tanks of the 305th Battalion that have escaped into Romania were also interned in accordance with a Romanian-Polish agreement, resulting in a total of seventy-five R-35 tanks available to the Romanian Army in late 1939.

If that helps you :)

At the outbreak of the war the heavy renault tanks used by France out gunnned, and had much more armor then the early Panzers. Unfortunetly for France they were deployed as infantry support vehicles rather then in armoured battalions.

That's some interesting background info. I remember now that the German strategy of making tank battalions was the winning factor. I'd really like to read more about the story of the 34 escaped tanks - I think that's quite an interesting story, especially if the soldiers somehow managed to survive.

Thanks for background info. It shows you know your stuff well!

@mr twister

but that doesnt go for the r35.....
ive used it very often in an accurate simualtion. it has armor, but no mobility, and its gun wasnt even able to penetrate a pz2 from 100m frontally, let alone a 3Es back from like 20m.
