Due to engine limitations and memory restrictions caused by the larger texture size, the Orb Engine was taken back down to 64x64 textures. The frame rate would drop from 70 down to 50 at times, and this is on a 2+ GHz machine. I can only imagine what it would be like on slower machines. Changing back to the original texture size kept the frame rate at a constant 70 on a 1 GHz machine. All of the newly created 128x128 textures were scaled down to 64x64 and still look decent, so no time has been lost.

I had to choose between this and losing the multi-textured floor. Since this is based on the Wolf3D engine, I figured that sticking to the original texture size is the way to go. After all, if I wanted better graphics, I would have used a newer engine.

Sorry to build your hopes with the last screen shot, but the Wolf3D engine doesn't seem to handle all that constantly and consistantly.
