My steam account (Andokool12) has been stolen in what appears to be a massive organized crime spree on many other accounts as well.
Please watch out for anyone on you friend's list who sens you a message to join his friend's steam group that includes a link concealed in tiny url. This is a fake steam website and when you try to log in, a machine will automatically log into your steam account and change the password, kicking you off and denying you access. If this happens, please immediately send a ticket to steam support with proof such as the cd key that came with one of your games or a reciept.
If your account is stolen, the perpetrator does not use it for gaming, so worry less about it being banned. What they will do is, they will wait an hour and log into it when they can after that. Then, they will send similar messages to everybody on your friend's list. It's a chain reaction. Then they will simply log off and not use the account again. This comes as slight relief, as it means they don't have intentions to VAC ban accounts for lulz so when you egt it back your games are banned.
What sucks for me personally is not only can't I continue work on the mod for awhile, but I had JUST installed TF2 rigth before it was stolen by this phishing site.
Please be careful of who you add to your friend's list, and never give out your password to everyone. Be careful where you click, and always read the url if you do click.
I Want EVERYONE to be safe this holiday season, it pains me to see so many people have their valuable, expensive, cherished accounts stolen by these selfish criminals with a stupid MMF (Make money fast) scheme. I have a feeling these guys want to sell the accounts they get on the black market.
Anyways, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! I DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN! DON'T SATISFY THESE CRIMINALS! STAY SAFE!
All the best,
Andokool12
P.S.
Crime doesn't pay, remember that. If you have any intention to buy a stolen account, remember this:
There is someone who owns that account and WILL get it back. Steam support knows what they're doing, and who the original owner is. If you ever hijack or obtain access to someone's account, same thing, the original owner WILL get it back. Don't get it banned for lulz, that's extremely cruel and selfish. It's the virtual equivelent to stealing somebody's car for lulz. If you still do it, you are a sick, hopeless human being who has no part in our modern world. People have rights, and you are a selfish idiot who thinks he's in control ruining the lives of others. If this happened to you, and all your expensive games in your account were stolen, you wouldn't like it. So log off, and if you have the guts, return it to the rightful owner.
have you sent Valve an email about this?
Oh yes, I'll be getting my account back very soon.
