Wait. Does this *actually* translate the text now or just the UI elements and menus?
Edit: Ah nevermind, I read the main page description and see it's just about everything except for the cutscenes and conversations. Disappointed that it isn't a full translation yet, got excited for a second there, but I am happy to see that someone is at least attempting to mod a translation into this game. I wish you luck.
I understand that it's disappointing, if I knew how to translate cutscenes and conversations, I would.
I can't find any tools that allow me to edit auth.bin or Kenzan .msg files.
The mod is intended as a temporary solution until a complete translation is released.
There is another modder who has supposedly translated everything, but he won't release his mod for some reason.
He has been teasing people for over 6 years now.

Everything except cutscenes and conversations? Does that mean I can actually play this game from start to finish with translated YouTube cutscenes on a second monitor? Been waiting years even for that much
So, can I use the mod without the sfx changes?
Yes, you can restore original sounds by getting the all_csb.cpk from the 'Backup Files' and replacing all_csb.cpkin your game folder with it.
Have you tried reaching out to the folks in the yakuza modding discord? They were able to go as far as mod back in cut content into the game, so I’m sure they could help you out with tools/figuring out how to edit files you’re having issues with. I’d love to play the game fully in English instead of just getting by with broken japanese
