Warp, a Sci-Fi Total Conversion for Battlefield 2, has posted a major news update. It deals mostly with space maps and what to expect from them game-play and physics-wise. An excerpt:
The new physics coding allows for some fascinating maneouvres like backwards or side-ways flying, “power slides”, and drifting with your thrusters disengaged (so that the doesn’t see an engine glow, which is very useful if name-tags are off and your fighter has a dark colour scheme!). If you stop your fighter completely, you’ll just hover in mid-space like a helicopter, as there’s no gravity to pull you down. So in essence, your space fighters are part jet plane, part helicopter, and part UFO.
From the testing we’ve done with this physics system, space flight takes a bit to get used to, but is incredibly fun once you’ve gotten the hang of it.
