Another wc3 "HD" mod... But this one is different... We plan to replace all of the wc3 models, spells, textures with new custom made ones, and after that remaster the campaign of wc3 with new terrain and doodads... And even maybe make a custom campaign
This is just because kantarion asked cause he thinks he is better than Blizzard; which tileset you guys like more left one or right one? I won't tell which one is kanta's which one is Blizzard's but it is easy to understand
The original tiles have way more charisma and are clearly what we remember. The new tileset of Stratholme in the Reforged version is more in line with the WoW version. That explains the map orientation, the scenery and even the garden, present in the original The Culling, are different. I honestly prefer the original one but I more than open to a twist into the original War3. If we want to play the original maps, we can play Rebirth; if we want to play an in-every-sense fresh version, I'm more than happy to play Reforged, as long as they keep the timeline, story, and feeling of the original War3. If Blizzard decides to introduce extra maps in the story just to feel the gaps (like the month that took Arthas to reach Northend), I'm also sold in that regard.
After watching The Culling gameplay, I decided to have a run into the Human Campaign and gosh, what memories!, especially with all the Rebirth assets. Once eges96 releases the human building, I will have another run for sure!
Nice thing is rebirth and old maps are just one click away to be added to reforged cause it wont change formats
As far as I know, Blizzard is using a revamped version of the War3 engine rather the SC2 engine. But my expectations are low regarding the modding. Modders may need to publish everything through battle.net as happens now with SC2. It may be alternatives ways to install mods, and I don't think that old maps/campaigns should be easily updated in the new editor. Blizzard wants more control and to stop the ripping off WoW models and that is why they came up with the new CAS storage system.
Importing them to maps is easy and is allowed (WoW hots etc rips are legal), modding is now using a new style (local files) which Blizzard can't corrupt(they can if they wish ofc)
I like Kantarion's version more but i tend to agree what Nekki said earlier.
I said that because after playing Starcraft Remastered, it feels just like a beautiful same-old-same-old thing. This is why I'm still running the original Starcraft campaigns with the Mass Recall or the Reawakening mods.
The "new" Culling looks fresh in every sense and you'll need to replay and treat the maps like a new game; the enemy location, the former strategy, and the old mechanic won't work. It will be new and fresh experience.
will they also fix the quality of the terrain and some units that look pixelated?
