Very interesting idea to convert previous MP maps to a SP mod format.

Many of the levels are very labyrinthine in design and hide many of secrets for adept explorers. The combat is also very tight! Levels offer a lot of cover as well as maneuverability for the player to overcome their foes!

However, the pacing feels off. The first levels where the player was traversing by car/foot felt the most authentic but once it began to jump around it became very clear some of the levels didn't flow well with one another. And while the levels are immaculately detailed and feel like the author mapped them off his own home town down to the minuscule of details, many of the custom models and textures did not reflect the same care and felt out of place.

Regardless, Silesia is one of the more surprisingly mods to come out in recent memory. It's not much in terms of plot or atmosphere, but it surely makes up for it in game-play and design!

Game rewards exploration in a different way. Giving you dead obvious paths forward means you can skip whole portions of a map, but if you choose to explore, you're rewarded with thoughtful scenery. Silesia feels lived in.

Oh **** me, that was a liesurely drive. This mod loves to take its time.

I liked the slow transition from hopeful affluence to grubby City 17. I thought maybe there was a chance that this was an alternate reality, but then you see the half-eaten headcrab. Welp, these people living in this awesome house are still ******. And then you see the bedroom with a balcony to kill for...

Game has a way of ramping up intensity with combat encounters that lull your senses with complacency until you're like, "****, how much health do I have?" Really gets the blood pumping.

Beautiful and original environments. Not as "Half-Life" as I'd like, but creative and purposeful all the same. The author chose a direction and full sent it.

A little too open world for my liking. I get the appeal, but it's not very Half-Life. Once I stopped checking every path and just started moving forward is when it got much more enjoyable. Great environments, though. Definitely inspired workmanship.

The way the game just piles on the foreshadowing with literal piles of RPG ammo, makes you wade through it... so heavy-handed in its approach... oh gee, you think we've got a boss fight coming up? Although I will admit, it's a bit disconcerting... what sort of mostrosity could require all these rockets?

House Part II was clumsy. Good idea, but had a real problem with flow. Objectives were awkwardly spelled out with too much maze-like mapping. The game tried to be intuitive in a large map, and succeeded somewhat, but sometimes felt too big and too open.

Ending was intense but unsatisfying. Pretty sure I nailed that copter with like 15 rockets and it was still flying. I guess I'll just finish the game, then.

All in all, a fresh and interesting mod. Some segments felt exhausting and overstayed their welcome, but it was overall a positive experience.

There are not many mods with maps of that scale. There are some very detailed areas, but others look empty. I understand the reason - it's a lot of work for one person. Overall - an original and well made level design.

Also, there are some bugs - like the possibility to walk through the closed door, that leads to the garage on the second island. Or like the possibility to skip the cemetery area at the second map of Chapter 4 by jumping over the vehicle barricade in the beginning. There are other minor bugs too, but nothing game breaking. There is a significant performance drop at the first map of Chapter 4. The probable reason - a lack of time for playtesting because of the scale of the maps.

There is a diversity of enemies and the combat is satisfying, but there are tons of supplies. English needs editing. Generally - good and memorable mod, but it needs polishment and design consistency.

Silesia is a classicly paced singleplayer campaign with satisfactory playtime in diverse well build environments. Imho the last third of the mod where the
player finds the home village infested at night has the strongest atmosphere and best mapping.
The gameplay tends to be more on the easy side with plenty of
supplies. However that doesnt
mean its a walk in the park.

This was a very nice and long mod, per 'PINOCCHIO' se. It started out, initially VERY SLOWLY...and for the first part of this mod you are doing so much exploring (i.e., your house and your very big local neighborhood which consists of many streets and blocks) -- that you have the impression that this is purely an exploratory mod.

Once you finally exit your neighborhood -- action sequences and enemies finally begin to make an appearance and rapidly increase, thank goodness. This HL2 user-made mod reminisces of being 'amateurly-made' but mostly in a "good" way. The maps are very ambivalently overtly long at times....but also simultaneously you kind of wish that certain maps didn't end.

The combat, for the most part throughout is a little on the 'easy' side: Until the very end of this mod, there is much more than an ample amount of healthpacks and a very wide variety of weapons to the extent that only in certain parts of maps are you ever in any real danger of being killed. I actually prefer mods that are 'too easy' as opposed to being 'too difficult.' A mod that is 'too difficult' is no longer 'fun' to play...getting the right 'balance' (not too hard or too easy) is not very common in many mods, unfortunately.

Towards the very end of this mod -- you end up 're'-exploring your neighborhood all over again -this time at night. Your neighborhood has become infested with all kinds of NPCs which were NOT present before (in the day)....and finding your way to a certain 'teleporter' is time-consuming...

I rate "Troubles in Silesia country" an 8/10.

Multiplayer maps converted into a single-player mods? I'd say it was an achievement of itself as I've had a lot of fun with the mod.
