Some of you might heared about and seen some testing videos of Tower Defense on modding pages. Most about the main menu. Like this:

This one was taken on the last test for patch streams so the earth will be replaced later and also the red logo was for testing. But there will definitely some changed menus. Especially the in game HUD will be changed to improve the readability of the chat, which was overlapped by the counters and timers showing the stats.


Another update to the interface is the use of the build tabs. In the first public beta the slots 1 and 2 (originally Main and Other Structure tab) were used for building left and right oriented towers for fast placing. Now the slots 3 and 4 (originally Infantry and Vehicles tab) are also used for building up and down oriented towers. But not only this, there is an fith slot left (originally Aircraft tab). This will be used as a specials slot. For example the selection menu for the subfactions:

Like building normal units it upgrades the player to the new subfaction and exchanges the factions main building. Defenders that are connected are put into a defender faction as a subfaction. The Generals Defender from the first Beta is merged with the coming TW Defender to the C & C Defender. What planned is, that you can build Tier 1 towers from every subfaction but you will only be able to upgrade these two times. If you have all Tier 1 towers of a subfaction upgraded two times you will be able to select this subfaction as your main faction. It will give you several advantages:

  • The ability to create Tier 2 and 3 towers.
  • The ability to upgrade your towers up to 4 times
  • Special Powers

Another thing to mention is that the work on another more competitive gameplay mode with teams fighting each other has startet.
There is no planned date for the next public release but it could be next month.
