Report RSS TimeWarp - Progress Update March 2023

So it's been a month since the initial announcement, and there's been a lot of progress made since then!

Posted by on

Welcome to the first progress update for TimeWarp! It's been a month since the initial announcement of the mod but there's been a lot of progress made! Maps, models, and some cool news, so let's get to it!

However before i get to showing off stuff, if you haven't seen it already then check out LambdaGeneration's video on the mod, it covers the announcement and has some cool gameplay footage of the mod!

#1 - Models

So first off i want to show models i made for the mod, because there's a lot.

Enforcers

These are the Enforcers, basically security guards of the experimentation facility. They'll be the first enemy type you encounter in the mod, and therefore not much of a challenge. However they can still pack a decent punch depending on the weapon, they can have either a pistol or an SMG. Also in case you didn't notice they come in both male and female variants, because adding some variety never hurts.

Also if you see these guys in the map screenshots below, i'll make sure to replace them with a more fitting enemy for the level since right now the Enforcers are the only enemy type i've properly implemented.

Misscie

This is Misscie (pronounced Missy), she's a tough killer robot that will slice anything that gets in her way, including you! She's got two energy saws on both her wrists. She will be a boss type enemy that you'll fight late in the game. Yeah you read that correctly, there will be bossfights, but i'll make sure to not make them just boring bulletsponges :D

Tommygun and Dynamite

I have been working a lot on a fitting arsenal for the Lava Caves chapter (which i've shown on the announcement), which is set in the 1930s. I have implemented a Tommygun and Dynamite, the Tommygun being a good weapon for close range, and the Dynamite being basically the HL1 grenade, but with a cool secondary fire that drops a dynamite stick which you can then shoot to make it blow up, it's great for setting up traps!

That's really it for models, hope you like these, and if you find something off about them then make sure to tell me :D

#2 - Maps

I have been making loads of progress on the aforementioned Lava Cave chapter, which is almost done by the way!

Here's some shots of it!

Water Temple

Now you might be probably be tired of caves by now, so here's another map that i've been working on!

Diner

I hope you like these shots!

#3 - Possible Demo?

So since the Lava Cave chapter is almost done, i have been thinking really hard of releasing a short demo of the mod to give people a slice of what to expect from the full thing. I got a few people helping me out with the mod, with Bacontsu helping out with programming, and Dr. Orange making music for the mod! All of this means that i might be able to release a playable demo very soon (in a few months-ish maybe), so keep an eye out for news of that!

That's about it for now, i'll probably be publishing these update articles every month like with my previous project, so keep an eye out for more news in April, or something. Or you can join my Discord server to see more frequent updates, like showing off new models, maps and stuff. Or you can show off stuff YOU made, because why not!

So yeah, that's it, see you in the next article!

it's HL1's hud but with WAR's armor system because we added that to the mod, just ignore the hud because it's a placeholder

I like the look of this fiery robot (Missy), I wonder what the fight with this boss will look like.

This project sounds like something to scratch that Timesplitters itch, especially because the development of Timesplitters: Rewind has been hella slow
