The Crusades were a series of religious wars initiated, supported, and sometimes directed by the Latin Church in the medieval period. The best known of these Crusades are those to the Holy Land in the period between 1095 and 1291 that were intended to recover Jerusalem and its surrounding area from Islamic rule.

In Tierra Santa TW the crusades have a especial focus in the development of the campaigns, this crusades are declared in a specific date and event, like the siege of a settlement or military event. When the Crusade is declared in a few turns the Crusaders appear near the Levantine coast, disembark and move like a horde to attack their objective, this armies have a strong leadership and special units like crusader troops, fanatics, pilgrims, european mercenaries, and different heavy cavalry units and shock infantry of some Miltiary orders.

The Crusaders attack and siege like a normal faction, but they move for they own interests, can conquer a city and sack and later move to other city to follow the path of destruction, sometimes Crusader armies can conquer a enemy settlements and build some points of supplies for their troops, that add a dangeorus factior in the campaign, spawning more armies if they don't stopped by other factions, inlcuding can attack christian factions or sack their regions if they see a opportunity to expand the force of the crusade.
