The Spencer Estate is an L4D2 custom campaign based off the first Resident Evil. It includes aspects of both the original game and the Gamecube remake, along with a few of our own ideas.

Right, hello all! Here's a rundown on what to expect from the campaign in the near future.

This is my first time with the Source SDK, or modding in general really, but Pyrohamster has been doing this for awhile and he's showing me the ropes. We're both excited, and somewhat nervous, to be working on adapting such a legendary game, but it's coming out surprisingly well so far.

We're more or less done with the Helipad and working simultaneously on basically everything else. A lot of Resident Evil mods seem to start their updates with the mansion, but most of our time is spent in the lab right now, so expect stuff from there first.

As we've said, the campaign will include aspects of both the original game and the GameCube remake, as well as a few of our own ideas. This is largely because we simply couldn't decide which we liked more, as well as some limitations from the L4D engine, the pre-rendered nature of Resident Evil backgrounds, and our own abilities. Hopefully it will still make for a nostalgic play through, while providing some interesting new game play.

The campaign itself will include 5 maps, with a written prelude. Ultimately, it's going to look something like this:

-Raccoon Forest
-The Spencer Mansion
-The Residence/Caves
-The Umbrella Laboratory
-The Helipad Finale

As for updates to expect in the coming weeks, I will have the prelude uploaded sometime in the next few days and you can hope to see some screenshots of the lab within the week. In the meantime, feel free to take a look at the few screens we've got up and let us know what you think.

Until next time.
