Description

Long story short: I have great respect for modelers and animators. Seriously...those who can create from scratch and then rig within a day or twos time....my hat's off to ya.

This was my reel for the 3d modelling class....which sadly....did not go as in depth as I would have liked into character modelling (and animation). It combines the models Ive toyed with using various techniques in one concise format. While the class did not go into actual character modeling I did manage to rig up a simple version of my avatar and tie him to sliders so I could get repeatable motion and edit things to be more "realistic". The catch was.....I went through 7 versions trying to find a way to properly rig him so he did not tear his polygon arms appart (I'm serious....that was an actual problem) each time learning and trying a different approach.

The end result (while devoid his fashionable attire) works well enough for computer animation....but not an in-game avatar due to how he was made for this end reel. At least I understand some of the more basic principles moving forward from here.

The music is "Session" by Linkin Park (yea yea...I know...) from the Matrix Soundtrack. It was one of the few songs in my rather limited library that seemed to convey a nice ambiance without being overly dramatic and within the limited time-frame I had to work within.

Enjoy
