Summer development report about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The Eternal Suffering (2023).

  1. Some monsters (mainly story bosses, gatekeepers and new species) will have added auras and post-mortal (when looting) shocks of various types (chemical, radiation, psycho, electro and biological). The necessary changes have already been introduced into the engine code.

  2. A full set of status indicating icons has been drawn and implemented: vigor, hunger, thirst, carried weight, types of negative effects, background damage, devices charge, and corresponding to them blockers or boosters icons to inform the player about the status of his defenses and vulnerabilities. Unlike LADCE, now the boosters effect will be displayed explicitly and will allow you to plan a safe expedition or sprint. Icons have also been added for other indications (firing mode, weapon and equipment status, and others).



  3. The PDA map was completely redrawn. It is quadrupled in area, while the detailing is radically improved. All the locations added in TES and their roads/transition points have been drawn in the right places (there is even Limansk, although it will not be in the game). The exception is Radar-2, it will be added later.

  4. There is an unpleasant feature in the entire Lost Alpha series: crows live from the beginning of the game until the first Surge, after which (at the current location) they disappear forever, until the end of the game. Now we managed to fix their spawn. We are deciding whether quests and transmutation recipes with crow meat will be added (obtaining it is quite wasteful in terms of ammunition).

  5. The number of added jokes exceeded 400.



  6. Megaphone Sound Pack for TES” has been compiled and posted to help mod creators.

  7. Items status and descriptions display has been relocated into a pop-up window.





  8. Due to changing conception on using pop-up windows, the inventory configuration is changing. The old-style description field will be eliminated, and the visual scope of the inventory will be expanded. The developers have already agreed on the UI, it is drawn and approved.



  9. The total protection indicator for each type of damage will be in the description, and the details of this amount from clothing, artifacts, boosters and perks will be displayed in a tooltip when you hover over the amount. The engine code is ready.



  10. By order of a legend subscriber, a location known as “Misty Thicket” or “Undiscovered Land” is added to the mod. It can be found in various mods: “Photographer”, “Secret Paths”, NLC, OP 2.2). This square forested area with a winding road and a small underground tunnel will be located in the triangle between Radar, the Pripyat Outskirts and the eastern part of the city of Pripyat. Terrain levels and some objects were edited in the location source code.



  11. Following voice sets have been added to the character voice pack:
    1. +4 new high-quality voices for singles;
    2. +1 new high-quality voice for bandits;
    3. +1 voice for monolith;
    4. +1 voice for zombified.
      One of the sets was shared by Akhmed Abdrakhmanov, the author of the “Darkest Time” mod. He is also working on another set, this time specifically for TES. The author of the other (Ukrainian) set is Yarkov Dezorek. Huge gratitude to these people.

  12. We have already mentioned that an "Ambient pack" has been created for TES with a huge number of compositions, both already used in mods before and not used anywhere. It is available to everyone to download and use in their projects. According to the demands of some authors, their works were deleted and the distributed pack was repackaged.

  13. ALL packs of ammo have been redrawn. New ammo have been added.



  14. A huge number of cyclical quests (6 types or more) will now be displayed in the quest ribbon with unified icons with the type of quest and the portrait of the quest giver (there are already 68 quest givers, but there are more planned - up to 500 total icons). Using these pictograms it will be very easy to navigate in what we should bring and to whom exactly.



  15. Added displaying useful tips while loading the game, as was the case in “Call of Pripyat”.



  16. The last location “Badlands” has been added to balance the number of locations in different tiers of the game. There are no plans to add any more locations.
