Description

"The Lion is the closest thing to a physical representation of Filaharn the faithful have embraced. It's not a surprise since such beasts are a common view on the south, and they are considered the most noble of animals. On most depictions the Lion sits upon a throne, the throne representing existence itself, the universe. Filaharn is everything. The Lion wears a crown on it's head, representing it's Lordship, and a staff with a cross on top. The cross represents the faith. When the cross is represented with its four tips broader than its center it becomes the Radiant Cross. Initially the Radiant Cross symbolized the spread of the true faith trough the four corners of the world. It was a sign of goodwill and hope, hope that the rest of the world would come to realize that Filaharn was the One worthy of worship. This 'spread of the faith' was carried out eventually, under the rule of Pope Saldian, but by the sword. And so the Radiant Cross became the symbol of Filaharn at War. Saldian reinforced this view of the Radiant Cross by naming the Lion Throne army after it and carving it on the forehead of the five Devas, considered the embodiment of aspects of Filaharn, all of which he related in one way or another to war. The Eyes, The Sword, The Flame, The Cross and The Seed. The Lion became Saldian."
