Okay, well I realise this may not actually be the best place to do this but I've reached the end of my tether and am about ready to explode. I know the guys here are really friendly and helpful so I thought I'd ask you for a little help. I recently bought a new laptop from some dodgy company that a week down the line have now decided to let me know they don't have it in stock. Brilliant. At least they're giving me a full refund which I plan to put to use securing another laptop ASAP. The laptop I wanted was an HP Pavilion DV8 1250ea but now there's none of this in my price range. And VAT's just gone up in the UK which also means I'm gonna have to pay a bit more.

ANYWAY ranting aside, do you guys have any suggestions on laptops that I could get that are good for gaming, price roughly around £1100 and have a screen that's 17" or bigger ? Thanks so much in advance (if anyone decides to help )

Do you really need a gaming laptop instead of a desktop? Here are some: Newegg.com Dell.com Dell.com

Sadly I do yes as I have to transport it between home and university too often for it to be convenient having a desktop. Can't see myself getting a desktop on the train ;)

Uuuhh :) great selection, ithilien. Hope I could grab one of these. My Compaq has serious problems to run Warband smoothly.

@Panda: Yep, they're trying to rise the taxes all the way this year :dead:. God bless the International economy!

I had a little play around with the dell and couldn't get it to fit my budget. I could wait a little longer but in the mean time I'm gonna have another look :). I can't wait to be able to play warband smoothly and hopefully in the future SWC on Warband :D!

I didn't know it was going up for the whole EU! I thought it was just here... well it makes me feel better that we're all suffering together ;)

PS. Let me know when / if you need me to do the dialogue :). I'm still completely up for it when you are ready :)

I wish I could afford to buy even the cheapest one. My laptop can't run M&B smoothly with bare minimum settings and 800x600 resolution.

I don't know about the EU taxes, but I hope the US gets the govt. straightened out. I don't want it to become the SSA Socialist States of America.

and I thought my computer sucks... i guess I took it for granted. This is why pc gaming is irritating, it's because you'll get your ass outdated the next day you buy a brand new pc. I don't know Ithilienranger about US, since, you know, the national debt and the crisis and stuff... EU is also in hard times, i've read the euro might be out in ten years, since greece and spain goin' recession style.

Yeah pc gaming is definitely the most expensive form of gaming if you want to keep up to date. Me, I'm not so worried about being up to date, I just want to be able to play M&B at reasonable settings and Medieval II Total War. Oh and Oblivion :P. My 3 favourite games :). M&B is only up there because of this mod though.

So, did you get a new laptop yet and if so what one?

Hehe yes I got my new laptop about a week ago! Which is why I've not been here for a while as it wasn't in my favourites anymore :(. Anyway I shall be more active now. I decided to get an Acer Aspire 8943G and i must say it was well worth the investment. Being able to play all the games that I want to play on near top settings and with great fps is something i never imagined I'd be able to do before :D!
