Originally this concept is part of the Crossfire 1.8 mod. We decided to take this concept and release a standalone mod for the Freelancer game.

The features of the Destructable Universe can easily summed up by 'it is destructable' but thats just half of the truth.

There were already some concepts in the Freelancer community about destructable bases which were mainly based on containers where stations were connected with and other mods which finally crashed the servers or which caused other problems such as missing docking animations.

This mod is different. The stations are fully working. The stations are fully destructable. Once a station got destroyed players can not dock with the station anymore, but already docked players can undock (in a slightly different way) without crashing the game and the servers. The only thing that remains after a station got destroyed is the station core which we introduced to show players "oh here was a station but until the next restart of the server I can not dock here anymore" instead of letting players search for not existing stations. Thats a matter of fairness to new players which are not familar with a destructable Universe.

Version 1.0 (vanilla edition)This version will only contain the normal destructable stations

Version 2.0 (vanilla edition)This version will contain even more destructable object including asteroids and planets. It might even be that in combination with the singularity bomb concept of the Crossfire mod the destruction of entire systems will be possible (but thats something that has to be tested yet).
