The Eitan (Hebrew for "steadfast", "firm" or "strong") AFV is intended to replace the the need to pack troops inside the vulnerable, ancient American sardine can called the M113 APC (still not completely phased out of Israeli service).
The Eitan more than sufficiently transports IDF soldiers through areas with light enemy resistance. Mines do minimal damage to its v-shaped hull and unique wheel system. Its role is to ferry troops into the area and resist ambush sufficiently to escape, rather than launch assaults. It would be easily blocked and destroyed by heavy resistance.
