YOGYAKARTA

The Farming Civ

Just like Mangkunegaran realm, Yogyakarta didn't start as a state on its own. After a long struggle alongside Prince Sambernyawa (soon to be Mangkunegara I), Prince Mangkubumi achieved his own throne at 13 February 1755 through the Treaty of Giyanti. 1755 on, Yogyakarta will be known as a culturally rich sultanate with its capital in Yogyakarta (sometimes called Jogja), led by sultans whose regnant name is Hamengkubuwana. It enjoys equal power with the Sunanate of Surakarta and even has its own subordinate, the State of Pakualaman.

In SoI, Yogyakarta is depicted as a weakened civ, heavily beaten by the death of its sovereigns, corruption, court intrigues, British assault on its palace, and Dutch interventions. The worst come when Danuredja IV rose as the regent for the infant Hamengkubuwana V (he was just 3!) after Hamengkubuwana IV died in a suspicious incident. Danuredja's pro Dutch policy was one of many reason of why the Java War broke out.

Wirabraja edit

Wirabraja, Yogyakarta's fast moving spearman

Yogyakarta belongs to the Javanese culture, which will be talked later. It has some unique units and a unique livestock, asu. Yogyakarta may choose in age II to accept the regency of Pakualaman, which grants better farming and an elephant UU, or Pepatih Dalem, granting better military and a swift swordsman UU. Its infantry units are not trained individually, but trained as brigades, such as the Maulid Nabi brigade, containing three spearman and four archers.

Its unique units are:

  • Dhaeng, a tough musketeer which counters infantries
  • Mantrijero, weaker musketeer, usually trained alongside dhaeng
  • Wirabraja, fast moving spearman
  • Sumoatmaja, swift swordsman, Pepatih Dalem's UU
  • Bregada Liman, elephant rider, Pakualaman's UU

Yogyakarta also has a unique building, the Joglo. Joglo serves as house and farm, which can be gathered by 6 units. It also spawn an asu when built. Asu is pretty useful, so I rarely kill them for food but let them guard my town. One can gather dog meat from it after it is killed and make it into tongseng asu.

In later version of SoI, a set of unique age up politicians will be implemented for Yogyakarta.

Sadly, you're mistaken. I'm very certain that asu is dog, and kirik is puppy.
