This mod will replace many parts from the original content converting the game in a complete Star Wars mod with 9 factions. Rebel Alliance, Galactic Empire, Black Sun, Old Republic (Clone Wars), CIS, Krayt Empire, Fel Empire/Galactic Alliance, and other three factions which I have not choosen by the moment.

Polaris Sector 1.0 Beta by Nomada_Firefox This mod is the fruit long work for the last 6 months and it is not only a mod where I had copied and pasted everything, it includes thousands of changes and customizations with many new features. This version is a beta and it can contain errors. Report them in the Slitherine forum or my personal site firefoxccmods.com Just for the record, it is a work in progress as other mods made by me. The addition from more content and new changes is sure at 100%. Although I have made by myself, I use many stuff previously made by others. Without them the mod certainly would not be as it is. However I would like to emphasize that the vast majority of materials added to the mod were not originally made for this game and they had a high conversion work on my part. Without the development the new conversion process for most of the stuff, I had not added all this stuff.

This is the mod installation:

Remove your designs folder at ..\Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector\.. folder.

Remove the imgsize.ht in the ..\Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector\..

Uncompress the mod in the game folder ..\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Polaris Sector\..

You will see a new folder into the original game folder named Polaris_Sector_Alliance, do not rename it.

After uncompress the mod, enter the mod folder named Polaris_Sector_Alliance and copy the REMEMBER.CFG inside the Polaris_Sector_Alliance folder into the ..\Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector\.. folder.

Just for the record, this mod needs the 1.04a version from Polaris Sector installed and it will not work with previous versions.

If you want restore the game to the original, just you must edit the file REMEMBER.CFG from ..\Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector\.. folder and remove the line CurrentModPath "Alliance_Test/" or change it by //CurrentModPath "Alliance_Test/"

Is this install works for the steam version?
Just because I dont have: "Uncompress the mod in the game folder ..\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Polaris Sector\.." - so I unpacked it to its steam folder.
The others are done, but the game wont start when I push play game.. a loading ishows up, and a few sec later the game closes itself. :(

It should work. You can ask help for it in the Slitherine forum.

I will check later with my steam version. If you did not know about it, if you had bought the game at Slitherine, they had given you a free key for Steam. They make it with all their games.

Reading you, you can not deleted your files from ..\Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector\.. Specially the designs folder but if you delete everything and you add the remember.cfg from the mod, it will be better.

I have the steam version too... didn't try it yet but now I am worried. Will I be able to restore the game to its original form just by backing the files to be removed and then restoring them later?

No. If there is a new version and the mod needs any change, I will update the mod but very probably it will run without update the mod because the mod uses its own compiled files.

All that is needed is to allow the beta updates - the last one needs to be installed before the mod works. Go to the game's properties in steam - then Betas and accept open betas.

By the way, the Empire's description both in the Birth of the Rebelion and in the Galactic Civil War has a part of the original Human description in the end... you might want to take a look at that.

Can you explain better? I can not see the bad text with the original human description. In fact, the description from each race is the same in all the scenarios.

Actually it is in the first part of the Empire's race description, when you're explaining how Palpatine created the Empire... it goes like this:

...reorganized the Galactic Republic into the "First Galactic Empire" on the Galactic capital, Coruscant.about Humans, claiming the only thing they can do without filling out the right paperwork first is...

It is just like that, after Coruscant the text goes on with that part of the original human description, talking about Humans as the galaxy's burocrats.

I liked it so far. It has some interesting features like the presence of the main characters, though I think they are there more to add flavor than to actually change the gameplay in any important way... it is nice though. Some things need to be adressed, like the design of the ships - they not only start with just the bare basics installed but the positioning of the itens is off (the weapons, engines and other itens are just placed anywhere inside the ships). It is more anoying than anything else, but I believe it might impact the gameplay since the ships designed for the race I played for awhile (The Empire) aren't very effective in battle - I can solve this by designing better ships, but if the other races have the same problems with their designs the game would be too easy... and if they are so well equiped as the pirates then it will be too difficult... it is just a matter of ballancing things a bit.
Another thing I noticed and that I thought was strange was the automatic birth control in all the planets where the engine was managing the development. In Coruscant it was needed since the planet was overpopulated, but the other ones had only a few colonists and couldn't grow - it took me awhile to notice that and then I had to figure out that I could change it by micromanaging the colonies...
But I think it has the potential to become a very nice mod. You put a lot of work into it and I will definitely keep on playing the next updates!

If you see designs with the items out the positions, it is because you have not deleted all the files from the \Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector folder, specially the designs folder where your designs with the original game were saved and when you loaded the mod, it could not load the new designs and it loads the defaults from the original game.

At the end, the best is delete everything in the \Documents\My Games\Polaris Sector folder. But if you do not want lose everything, you can copy the content from the folder at other folder.

About the other things as the population, nothing was changed in the original game and it see it more as strategic matter.

At the end, there is a curious matter, the default galaxies are created randomly and some times are better than others.

The additional scenarios from the mod, probably they are not random and they always as you see.

For end, in a future, I would like to try create a galaxy with the design from SW. Perhaps with less planets but clearly with the same position of planets. However, never I tried but I have some ideas about it.

restoring the original game is easy, delete local content in steam -> then redownload game :)

Still try to lunch the game but nothing works :( still close the game at loading window :(

I found a bug.
When I play with the Rebels every time I make a carrier with a level 1 starships its change it up the plan with another level 1 starsip. Realy anoying. Have screenshots and save, where or how can I get it to you?

the Quasar (RV_Quasar) is the ship, when I try to make a carrier from it the plans are saved works fine till I quit, and reloda tha save game. Then the desing is transfered to Gunship (RV_Gunship) O.o

I guess this is a bug.

edit:

Yea every kind of design at Quasar goes after reload to the Gunship!

Another bug: Republic heroes when I found their planets they exist on their planet and on their ships too till I make a save and load. Reload dont work because the game gonna crash.

Playing as Republic I had Padme on her ship and I put Obivan next to her after a save and later a load they gone... they disappeared as if they never existed.

I didnt encounter these bugs with the other factions because I never waste any time on heroes to do with them things... I gonna try it with other factions look for this bug exist there.

Heroes are gone missing after you move them from theis planet where you found them. It doesnt matter how you move them - by their ship or big ship or transport etc. - after you save and quit then start game and load the save up the heroes - which were moved - are gone... Bug? O.o

Edit: Empire heroes are gone missing too... I gues all faction heres had this bug.

This mod is great I love it. But I have experienced several time that the mod causes the game to crash mid to early late game. I am wondering if title is the tech level or the number of units on the map can someone help me I am eager to finish the game and conquer the galaxy and get level 4 starship. Still a great mod LOVAE IT.

Ye same problem, i "install" all in the right places, want to start, black screen and in the left upper Corner i can read "loading" but than i close
