A new mod was released for Galactic Civilizations 2, which is one of the best turn based strategy games to come out lately. The MOD is called Star Trek Vs. Star Wars. It features all the major races and starships from the Star Trek series and the Star Wars movies. If you have ever wondered who would control the Galaxy with a war of Star Trek and Star Wars races then this is the mod for you. Please note: you need the Twilight Arnor expansion pack to play this mod. To install it, just unzip everything to the following directory: C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition\Twilight\Mods\Default

I always wondered where the shields went during the big dominion war skirmishes i've seen clips of...
They were "skin tight" ala star wars, there were 2 reasons given:
actual reason - it was cheeper and tidyer to produce the skin tight shields in the ship battle scenes.
in universe reason - The fleet pulled there shields in tight to the ships hull to make sure that in combat they would not colide with other ships shields accidently when everything went nuts.
Most of the shots in the DS9 battle were to shoow stuff exploding also, so a lot of the time when you see a ship go boom, there shields were already failing.
Ya good point, LOL
not to metnion a lot of the ships in the fleet despite being refited for the dominion where 80 + years old the mirander class vessel has been in service since the constatution class and the excelcior is on the verge of being just as old, if you recall non of those ships had great sheilds to start with, and there field emitters where not as sophisticated, aka more like polerised hull plating than sheilds for the mirander class etc :)
