also the skybox is gorgeous and i'm thinking that excelsior is sporting new shading effects? Because it looks beautiful.

Runabouts take up more command points so they will be exclusivly launched from hangar defense's, and Star bases.

All models got new shader effects. when back lit from the sun they look awesome!

I noticed in Entrenchment the runabout is just a homing mine that flies around and does nothing. It doesn't even look like a Danube. It's just a sphere with thrusters. Is it different in Diplomacy?
