Following the formation of the Federation colonisation exploded and rather then design a completely new ship it was decided to refit the old Conestoga hull type. Removing the old Antennas at the front and intergrating a new subspace tranciever array and using the space to add a large deflector dish which was needed for the higher warp speed. The Old rocket engines were also replaced with high speed impulse drives.
