Squirrels! content pack for Spore is available now from the Sporepedia and here at ModDB. A quick installer will be available in 1 day for those having trouble installing creatures to the recently released Spore Creature Creator.
More Information:
Squirrel Content Pack No.1 - The most cutest creatures in the spore
universe can be all yours right now! play as one of the squirrel races
on their path to venture out beyond the stars as one of the greatest
civilizations ever.
This content pack was created with the Full Version of the Spore Creature Creator. The content pack requires the full retail version of Spore OR the full retail version of the Spore Creature Creator in order to run. This pack will NOT work with the Trial Version as it is missing the parts necessary to create the squirrels.
Please also note that the creature names at the moment are Incorrect and will be corrected soon.
Each of these .png images can be saved DIRECTLY into the Documents/My Spore Creations/Creatures/ directory. Enjoy and have fun.

WOOOOOAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Ohh look at the cute squirrels. Everyone is going to consider themselves a modder / modeller now that the spore creature creator is here.
Technically I think this should be classified as an "addon", but i'll wait to see how things pan out and if moddb becomes a spore hangout.
tried to do that but as a result it had to be a mod. Sorry Scott :D
Certainly more family friendly than most of the Spore creations I've seen so far. XD
I agree with INtense here, spore creatures can hardly be considered a "mod" You probably don't need to be using moddbs bandwidth when someone could go to the sporpedia to see em, or post in the creatures section of the official spore forum
Whilst sporepedia is one of the more interactive sites I have seen a game developer create, profiles are still incredibly restrictive. All you can do really is add creatures and leave comments - nothing more.
So I'm all for spore users using ModDB to post spore content / creations as we give them more power in the form of news, videos, tutorials and heaps more stuff. However a creature is essentially just a model - it is not something we consider a "mod". Groups of creatures, themes, packs and everything bundled into one mod profile is awesome, but it won't work if all of a sudden this site gets blocked up by 1,000 spore mods. I guess we'll see how the spore users make use of ModDB. We are currently asking EA what level of customization spore will truly allow (can it potentially go beyond the creature creator?) I doubt it, but worth asking.
Yeah I think it's just something to monitor and see what happens. I mean at the end of the day it's another tool which allows you to create character designs, and when I think about it, it shouldn't really matter in what way a character is designed, if it has the personality and potential to be turned into a cool games character, perhaps this offers a new quick way to conjure up new designs. :) But of course it should be monitored and no abused.
They do look an awful lot like Sid from Ice Age.." I was kidnapped by a tribe of mini sloths!" LOLZ
this is actually the whole point of this. I based this idea off a previous game design I was working with, Spore just seemed the logical choice, I may take it further though and build a similar full blown game using my own graphics.. who knows :D
All I know is that I have released madness and blasphemy on ModDB :D
Awwwww look at the little squirrels their so cute. But that blue one looks mighty shifty to me. It's always the bluse squirrels.
Hahaha cute
whats the meaning of this? this is not a mod or addon, and imho the fun of the creature creator is to make your own creatures...
And fot this sort of things there is the sporepedia
i believe this is so you can populate the other worlds with squirrels it wont reflect what your character looks like.
And here I was thinking this was an actual addon pack from Maxis and EA...
I agree with those who don't wish to have spore uploads put on moddb. Otherwise the moddb news is going to get flooded with people's little creatures, when alot of us ...or nearly all of us would rather not have to filter through creature spammage to find actual mods.
If this were to be allowed on moddb, I would think that there would be some form of weekly/fortnightly/monthly update which compiles all the creatures within that time, but really...there is a place to get these creatures already, and IMO, moddb is NOT where i'm talking about.
They created the sporepedia thing for a reason, use it...;)
Yes I understand that, my intention alone was trying to firstly be the pioneer test for this sort of thing as it will happen.. so its best to do it under someone actually trained in PR to handle the initial test. I was also looking into ways in which content from now on for Spore can be packaged in one big go, so in other words people won't need to make their own Mod profile for Spore, they can just use one big entry and make add-ons, this means you can compile creatures together (which will save time given we're now at over half a million creatures! :D)
Its best we get this shake down out of the way, but also we want people to use spore as their first step into Modding and game development because it is essentially an ultra simplified 3DModeler and we also want people to join us here at ModDb so they can learn about the game development process. Plus we also want them playing our games in the future.
I think catering for this demographic is really important and will no doubt provide ModDB with a lot more PR opportunities if we figure out a way to make the process painless on the community.
Thanks for the comments.
My spore creature is very family friendly:) check him out in my profile...why last 1 dont got tail?
because chipmunks are a different kind of squirrel.
