SAS is a mod for the UT2004 engine. It will attempt to simulate actions by the various SAS units around the world such as the U.K. SAS, Australian SASR and New Zealand NZSAS during various conflicts they have participated in the past, present and possibly future. Teams are broken down into two sides with the SAS and Opposing Forces. Players will enter a game and choose their team, player model, weaponry and equipment before starting out. Beta 3.0 features new animations for all player models when they transition from unaim to aim mode, new running, walking and crouching animations. There's also large numbers of tweaks and polishes to existing features such as the Overtime rules for Objective and Sabotage gametypes, new maps such as Raid (OBJ), Indonesia Conflict (SAB), Hotel (OBJ) and Blackhawk (OBJ). SAS version 2.1 for UT2004 is nearing completion with a possible release date of either late November or early December. The latest update features the last of the re-animated weapons such as the G36, AK-74, Browning High Power and Colt 1911. Most of the weapon's positioning on the HUD was changed, new sound effects and skins were added to them as well.

Also new is the Tuscany map for the Sabotage gametype. Set in Tuscany, a drug baron is running his operation from a mdoernized castle and funneling some of the profits to local terrorist groups. The SAS intend to disrupt the operation by destroying two targets with explosives on the map. A smaller version of Tuscany set during the night is available for the Team Deatmatch gametype.

Other updates include a new insurgent skin for the OpFor side and a new graphical loadout menu for faster weapon/equipment selection over the old drop down menu system.

We've also updated our Mod Database image gallery to include several of the new features in version 2.1 such as being able to go prone, leaning, the Sabotage gametype, light machine guns etc. You can also check out the updated SAS Player Manual on our main page to get a better idea of the various new features when 2.1 is released.
