"gamedata.dbo" makes the game crash at start. Removing it the game crashes....after some time :p Can you check if it's correctly packed? Unpackers can't unpack it (all the other dbx of the mod can be unpacked)

It can be done, but helicopters aren't like bosses.
I have a WONDERFUL update: -smap4096 works perfectly with the modified exe and it increases the shadowmap resolution to "today" standards :)
The only technical "issue" remaining is how grass shadows destroy performance, like in original SoC. Is there any way to easy the performance hit apart from turning it off?
One way is to modify the engine to be x64 only, but I wouldn't want to do that. There are many players who play on 32-bit systems.
Just some requests/suggestion:
*add a FoV slider like the one in original Shadows Addon (and other games)
*add the option to enable/disable the player shadow (it's a bit fake, engine limits of course)
*add the option to enable/disable the lens flare
*take ALL the low resolution textures to the retail resolution, some texture are REALLY low res compared to other ones:

I manually adjusted the weapon and the player's field of view, so I removed the ability to switch it. Other options may be added in the future, although I already did everything that I originally planned about two years ago.
And one last thing I've already said: About "hardcore and realism" (you say that in another post) maybe *SOME* ammunitions must remain in the guns enemies drop and maybe it's good to find around *SOME* not hidden-stashes goodies (like in original SoC) :p

I didn't add new weapons as it breaks the original atmosphere. Only the original weapons of the game have been improved. You have SVD, SVU, Vintorez, Gauss, modified (unique) automatic and sniper rifles... If you wish, you can even make a sniper out of an ordinary automatic rifle by installing improvements on the scope, etc.

Archives are new (the oldest is from 24 august 2023). New user.ltx. It's just the hud_date ON
I recommend that you reinstall your game and this mod according to my instructions («ReadMe» file).
The issue about the heli solves by itself if you just bring Sidorovich the artifact BEFORE reaching Tolik, no big deal, just reporting ;) The mod is installed correctly, no problem going on (but I miss the moving grass :D )
