Rise of Power; A Massively Multiplayer Online Action Game

I know some of you are wondering how exactly this game will play, and how this can be done. Well, for a long period of time I have been working on different ways to work on this game.

Q: How will we make a MMOAG using a half-life system?
A: To do this, we will have all the characters saved on one server. Each person will have one account (logs e-mail address). This account may have a number of characters (the number currently in question, but definately more than 1). This account will either be accessable by STEAM or a different program (created by us).

Q: How many maps will there be and how will it work with the HL2 servers?
A: The amount of maps are currently unknown. We will most likely have 2 or 3. To create smoothe transition between areas, each map will have a server dedicated to it. There will be NO map changes. To move from one map to another, the player must go to a designated area (Train station, Airport, etc) which will provide the option. Once the area is accepted, the player will recieve commands to disconnect from the current server and join the server.

Q: How will I get new weapons and vehicles?
A: By doing different jobs, and killing enemies or completing missions, the player will gain money capable on being spent on different items. These items will include Homes, Weapons, and Vehicles. In order to own more vehicles, players must buy a home with more garage room, or sell their old vehicle and buy a new one. Vehicles and Weapons are able to be picked up at the player's home. Homes (obviously) may be bought by more than one person, so don't expect to be the only one using it!

Q: What will the world be like?
A: Each map has differences depending on the artist making it. The commonalites of the map will be there, though. Things such as the Lengths of the days and what the sky looks like as days go by, will be constant. Who knows what's inside the world?

Q: Will players fight eachother?
A: Players are capable of fighting eachother. Although its default setting has PKing unavailable, players are able to issue challenges and accept challenges. Groups may also have friendly fire problems (up for discussion currently).

Q: Is the new items the only thing that happends as the game progresses?
A: No, Our programmer (well, me) has designed formulas
allowing for things such as Accuracy of weapons increases as the player uses the type of weapon more. For instance, each level of marksmenship requires a certain number of hits on enemies. As the game progresses, there will be less recoil on the players gun (because they are better at using it). Your maximum amount of health will also increase as you get hit more. This will not happen immediately, only after being healed at a hospital or using first aid kits. The more you use these first aid kits, the more you heal yourself and others for!

Well, thats about all the answers I can think of for now. If you have more questsions, don't be afraid to post a reply!

Thanks for your time,
~Rainman~
