Renegade X is a mod dedicated to recreating C&C Renegade in the new generation engine, the Unreal Engine 3. We all believe the Command and Conquer series is a very special one, and its fans have been following its games for over a decade now. C&C has been one of the most successful videogame series in the RTS Genre. Our modding team believes that C&C Renegade is truly a hidden gem in the FPS genre. C&C Renegade's specialty was its multiplayer mode, because it was not mindless killing like most games. A player was thrown into a battle as soon as he joined a server, in which teamplay was the only way to win. The game revolves around a war between the Global Defense Initiative, and the Brotherhood of Nod. Each faction would have their own base of operations consisting of buildings. A team had to work together to destroy the enemy base, while keeping theirs intact. Obelisk/Advanced Guard Tower (Base defenses) Without these, your team has no automatic defense. Hand of Nod/ Barracks...

Actually I was thinking along the terms of the existance of the game engine as it was around 2 years longer than the game itself. (Renegade W3D Engine)

Well, if you want to get right down to it, the engine was used for Emperor: Battle for Dune which was released in 2001. Renegade was initially slated for release in 1999/2000 so the engine was at least around in 1998.
Remember the engine that is used for c&c3, ra3, and soon c&c4 are all based on the w3d engine, so it's not like its been put away or anything.
Renegades hud was and still is totally awful looking.
renegade had the worst looking engine of all time, cause they made it out of a rts engine. and this is just a modification...sooo i don't think that this can prove the the development of the last 10 years.
Renegade has a better HUD still. =p

I myself like the old hud for the simple fact that it isn't all one color, we get it, GDI is tan/yellow, Nod is red.
Need to agree on this one too...
The old hud is partly metal.
Though, the new one is bigger, but doesn't really get in your way with the transparency.
Hard to decide between metal and transparency.
lol Renegades HUD is such crap... I love the new HUD guys nice job :)
I like the new HUD, but it just feels so empty without anything at the top. Maybe stylize the score tracker? Visible weapon tabs across the top? I dunno, I just feel like it needs something up there.
Stuff at the top would clutter up the screen too much. You could already see three of your weapons (not in the picture since it is a vehicle) on the bottom right when on foot.

The new HUD is very 'Battlefield' orientated and quite bleak.
I still like it :D
It's too yellowish... and Nod one is too reddish... maybe more variety? x-D
