This mod will remove the majority of in-game screen effects, and many from cutscenes. Some effects are burned into pre-rendered cutscenes, and the in-game cutscenes are designed around these effects, so you may see graphical glitches from time to time. For the most part though, the game becomes much cleaner and less headache inducing.

How to install this mod bypassing Rockstar Games Launcher? It always verifies game files before launching MP3, and redownloads the flashy effects this mod removes.

An absolutely awesome mod, thanks for making it! It improves the feel of this game so much and the minor visual bugs here and there are hardly noticable. Really nice stuff, looking forward to future versions here as well! Specifically waiting for that little "flash" after getting a kill removed, or perhaps an optional version like that lol might that be possible? Thanks again!

Great idea for a mod. Waited for something like this since 2012 :) Can't wait for the next version including bugfixes with some more flashes removed and auto cutscene skip mod included (it's possible with ScriptHook and proper scripts Community.pcgamingwiki.com )

That way - it would be best way to replay this game without headaches for someone who already knows the story and doesn't need cutscenes.
Love the gameplay but hate those flashes (all of them really in cutscenes and in gameplay also - even that flash when you kill somebody and enter bullet time slowmotion, please take it out if you can).

Thank you very much!

Thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately, there are some flashes and effects that are embedded into the cutscene video files that cannot be removed at all. For the bullet time flash and others like it, you can try deleting the other .ifx files in common.rpf/data/imagefx, but you should know this can have unintended side effects.

I also use the cutscene skip mod and it's pretty great (other than some crashing and odd glitches), but I'm going to keep this mod as is because I don't want to use other people's hard work, and I'd like to keep it as simple as possible.

Wow, just released yesterday? What are the odds... My quarterly curiosity about a mod like this came back just this morning. What effects *besides* the cutscene stuff does this remove? Based on the phrasing, I am thinking gameplay-related stuff too.

And thank you.

I had the same curiosity every year myself lol. After having done some GTA 5 modding, I decided to look into it. Don't worry, this mod only touches the visual glitches and screen effects, nothing gameplay related. The game still plays the same.

Download and install OpenIV from: Openiv.com
Point it to your Max Payne 3 directory when prompted.
Then use the package installer to install the OIV package.
Youtube has tutorials. I found a tutorial for installing OIV packages here: Youtube.com
