Extensionless 16:9 fix for Star Wars Republic Commando
The remastered project has since transitioned to a dll-based solution for hud aspect ratio, but it is worth preserving the now-legacy implementation for those that don't want to use the dll, or want to maintain multiplayer compatibility. All hud functions have been restored at the cost of unavoidable artifacting around the periphery of the HUD, but tradeoffs have been reduced as much as possible.
This HUD fix is superior to others on Moddb in that it restores lost functions and properly recompiles SWRC's temperamental bumpmaps. Textures have been upscaled and cleaned where possible and replaced with hand-made textures where preservation of the original texture was not possible.
- Installation -
- Place extracted files into the root directory (GameData). Windows will ask you to overwrite hudtextures.utx and hudmeshes.usx
- Known Issues -
- Stray pixels around the edge of the visor - unavoidable without the dll plugin
- Event Timer circle still doesn't display the progress arrows correctly - hardcoded, will need dll patch
- Low-res reticles - reticle scaling is broken in the base game, unavoidable without the dll plugin
dumb question probably but a 16:9 HUD already existed seperately, what is so different with this one that is even larger in data size?
yes there is a other 16:9 fix but, this one has more fixes to the hud, aka squad arrows actually work.
We have a even better 16:9 fix in our remaster file.
