Project Edda is a Total Conversion which amis to create a World in the nothern Regions of Europe around the Year 1000, when pagan beliefs where forced to christianity. Our Mod tells the Story of a boy who is born and grows up in this conflict. You live in a open World with free gameplay, similar to the Gothic Series (1-3), rough Environments, inhabitants and no, the style is realistic, we don't aim for glorification or stereotypes of these Times. Cryengine 3 should give us the best possibilitys to both create a huge open world, while having a very high grafics quality.
These are matepaintings and concept drawings.
can this become an in-game reality?
The Cryengine is capable of handling alot of Detail even on a very big terrain due to its use of a strong LOD System. --> Foliage yes.
The Daylightsystem is prety good and can be trigered, dynamic Shadows, HDR, Colorcorrection, Depth of Field etc. can be added. Water was always strong in the Cryengine, you can define rivers and the Water will flow along your defined paths. The only thing we'd have to check on is the fog. There is a system for Volume Clouds which can be lit and should be modifieable. If this works in a performing way then yes I'm sure it can be done ingame.
So watching because of this.
