The game takes place in the eve of the Seven Hour War. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. In his journey he will find what has happened to the world, moments before the Seven Hour War.

Report RSS OF2 - The Shadowrunner and more

After some long wait, we got you guys some news. Not that attention calling? Well, time to tell you about our new NPCs.

Well, our team got the tracks back on the SP, there was a vast development on MP, but as we had most of the crew with their hands on the SP, we decided changing permanently to the SP development, according to my expectations, you guys are probably getting a demo... Neeeext year! (2009) Yes, you heard it. From what we expect, the demo will include the first four chapters.

Anyway, let's get our eyes on what we are focusing on: The Shadowrunner. Yeah yeah, we're also focusing on the prowler, but basically, we have here on our hands a concept art of a big, scary, muscular creature that will surely give you the creeps you were always expecting to have in a cave chapter. It acts as a bear does, the only problem is that it has arms, claws, and an intelligent brain.

The Shadowrunner runs on two of its feet and dashes with a high jump to attack its victims, it also often uses its tongue, similar to the barnacle's one. Its concept is only to leap great distances to the player and attack. But once the player toggles the hardest difficulty on, then the creature uses its tongue to get the player stuck. We're figuring out how will the player get out of the dark command of the Shadowrunner once he's trapped by its tongue.

We will be starting the modeling of this race x nightmare soon, and we'll be proud to show you all the final result once we're done.

Authors Note: The funniest thing is that we passed through MANY concept arts of this thing. First, we had in mind a four-feet creature that had relations with the combine, basically a synth, but that didn't make it, eventhough it fit the chapter's description, the creature didn't look so convincing to be there, and there are all those crab synths, so the first concept of the Shadowrunner was a synth. Then, MenteR got some ideas as he played Fallout 3, he got some aspects of the creatures' mutations. And decided to match them up with the Half-Life aliens. He got some sketches, he picked one, and then he finally decided to work on that one.

Or perhaps after the "Demo" consisting of the first 4 chapters is released you could do and release a chapter at a time?

It would be like an online comic, only HL2:OF2!

May i suggest how you should scape Shadowrunner tongue?

It would be cool if you drop to the ground and depending on the dificulty, the tongue slowly or rapidly pull you near the mosnter, so you have some seconds to kill him before you he pull you near to his claws reach and hit you, also, the tongue could inflict poison damage, not lower your hp to 1 like the poison headcrab, but deal to you 30 poison damage that would heal or something like that, on the other hand, the tongue could strangulate you, dealing more damage if the Shadowrunner is hanging on the ceiling.

Seria legal se quando a lingua do Shadowrunner te agarra ela te puxasse na direção do monstro devagar ou bem rápido, dependendo da dificuldade, e também se ele infringisse "dano de veneno", parecido com o headcrab venenoso mas não tão forte. Ou outra sugestão, que a língua estrangulasse o jogador aos poucos, e desse mais dano se o monstro estivesse pendurado no teto.

We already decided how it's going to work, but yeah nice ideas. Well, the only problem is that a lot of enemies in OF2 throw projectiles. Having yourself with poison damage on the middle of a shocktrooper vs. combine soldiers crossfire would kill you instantly.

I'm not talking about 99 poison damage like the headcrab, i'm talking about something like 30 poison damage, and you can shoot while his tpngue grabbed you.

Maybe we'll use screen effects for some poisons that difficults the player to look. Like Boomer vomit screen effect in L4D...

Hey i hope you authors read this. I got some really cool ideas..
When the mod comes out. Everyone then i mean everyone will get attached to the game, and never stop playin it, but wait, when the game ends.. It ends you cant continue. O HHH NOO. Here are the ideas: maybe when you played the game and did all chapters.. You could still continue playing.
Like Oblivion. Like an open world.. That includes mini quests. I dont know how to do it, but maybe you guys figure it out ;P thank you. //gamelover9966
