Mirage is a third person action RPG that puts the player into the shoes of two very different characters on opposing sides of a violent conflict. Made for the pc, and utilizing the Source engine, made famous by games like Half Life 2 and Portal, Mirage takes the fast paced action of hack and slash RPG’s, and combines it with a “Final Fantasy” style of storytelling. Utilising the various tools in the Source engines software development kit, Mirage will be a heavily customised modification of Half Life 2: Episode 2.

A lot has changed, this is an update of what we have been doing for the past three weeks

Posted by on

Hey guys!
It's been a while since our last update, and I apologise - AvCon was last weekend and everything else sort of fell by the wayside. However, we are back now - and hope to update with media at least once a week from now on.

Speaking of AvCon, I'd say it was quite a success :D
Although we had severe issues with ragdolling and animations in third person, we were able to showcase our BeachHead level through a multiplayer deathmatch and Garry's mod level, and got some good information on how the level flowed.

Now, on to the bad news - and I have to say, it sucks.
We were originally creating Mirage as part of a large scale, long term TAFE assignment. Now AvCon is over, and semester two has started, they have started trying to convince us to drop the mod and start work on our portfolios. We are being pushed quite hard to stop work on Mirage completely.

We of course, are completely ignoring them, but things will have to slow down, as the course is running to a conclusion - and we all need jobs after it's over :p So we have to build portfolios.

What does this mean to the mod? It means we are going to have to change the Mirage release date from Dec 31st to TBA, at least until we can be sure again how long it will take. I apologise for this, and we hate to do it, but to ensure the quality and enjoyment of the mod we feel its necessary - after all, we would all rather to wait a bit longer to play a good mod, than to play a rushed, badly made one right now.

However, this does not mean our work on the mod will by any way cease, and if we don't upload new media every week from now on - you have my permission to verbally abuse us until we do.
