Post news Report RSS The dinosaurs of v1.02

Meet the new dinosaurs that will arrive in v1.02, as well as a makeover for an older member.

Posted by on

Meet the new animals brought from the late Maastrichtian of North America, from dainty fleet-footed ornithomimosaurs to massive armored titanosaurians that make T. rex shake in fear. These species will soon be available in the next version.

Let's welcome back Torosaurus, which was originally replaced by Pentaceratops, but is now back in the exercises, at least.

Torosaurus latus

Many of you may not have known, understandable since it's not really a well-known bit of information, but Edmontosaurus annectens wasn't the only large hadrosaur currently known to be found in Hell Creek. There's also a large lambeosaurine known from an ilium, which is classified as species of Parasaurolophus.

Hell Creek lambeosaurine

Thescelosaurus, the most common non-avian dinosaur in Hell Creek.

Thescelosaurus neglectus

Dakotaraptor, a large ~5-6 meter dromaeosaurid, also known as the "Ghost of Hell Creek".

Dakotaraptor steini

Struthiomimus, an ostrich-like dinosaur, which was a prey item for Dakotaraptor, when it can catch it, that is.

Struthiomimus sedens

Alamosaurus, a roughly ~45-tonne armored sauropod which was too much for even adult Tyrannosaurus to handle.

Alamosaurus sanjuanensis

Denversaurus, a ankyosaur that was once thought to be a synonym of Edmontonia, but turned out to be a seperate taxon and was actually closer to Panoplosaurus.

Denversaurus schlessmanni

And last but not the least, Anzu, the "Chicken from Hell".

Anzu wylei

And yes, several of the skins are based on Saurian's. It's supposed to pay homage to the excellently-done game.

These animals will be inserted into the Lost World exercise.

But that's not all. Meet the new Velociraptor.

Velociraptor v1.02

It has been brought to my attention that the older Velociraptor skin looked out of place, so it was replaced by something that hopefully matches the other animals and the environment more.

I'm also currently revamping some models for the dinosaurs, fixing the bugs when I can. As you may have noticed, some of them lacked thought bubbles. As much as possible, I'm restoring thought bubbles to those which lacked them previously. You may also have noticed that when certain dinosaurs vocalized, their mandibles or lower jaws extended. This has already been fixed.

Please tell me your thoughts, I would like to hear some suggestions and ideas :)

Beautiful work!

Will the exercise goals be modified to reflect the theme of the exercise?
