The 'Middle Earth Roleplaying Project' aims to recreate J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth in the Creation engine of 'Skyrim'. The player will be plunged into Middle Earth near the end of the Third Age, not long before the War of the Ring breaks out.

Absolutely amazing.
Nice. The skope is prety good; this is where 16GB of RAM comes in handy, but somehow I think my 1GB of VRAM will struggle.
It certainly does :P
I've only got 8 and 1 and still get 60Fps. So its supprisingly easy on hardware.
All depends on screen res ;) I would happily use up the 4GB of a GTX 680 on my setup (you've seen the size of the screenshots :D)
A 4 GB 680?! Damn you, I have to do with an HD 7950 with a mere 3 GB of VRAM :P
He doesn't actually have a 680 :P
Yeah well most 680s have 2GB VRAM as standard. You can buy only a few with 4GB and they're quite a bit more expensive than the already expensive standard version.
Anyway if you've got the cash a 690's the way to go LOL but you'd have to be mega-rich.
I would get a 690 if they did proper 4gb (marketed as 8GB) versions. At the moment its just 2+2 so actually has LESS ram than a 4gb 680 :P
*RAM and *it's
Well, I'm not a huge fan of dual gpu cards... Twice the amount of warmth, noise, money and, to some extent, wattage. But not even close to twice the performance. So I just stick with single gpu cards/single card set-ups for now :) And as Alasdairhurst points out, 690's aren't even 4 GB, it's 2 GB per core, for both of the cores need to load all the textures. So they just aren't worth the 900+ bucks.
Still, I really wonder what AMD is going to do with their 7990, for crossfire usually scales better than sli. So with a some proper cooling and clocking it can probably outrun the 690.
will the game run smoothly on my pc? /:D i have 4GB ram,GT 240 1GB,2.93 Ghz Intel i3.i think i have two more slots for memory, only 2 are used(2GB each)
You will not be able to play on max settings, but you can probably get 60fps from medium.
so,
1.which one is not enough?Ram,Video or both?
2.programs or mods like FXAA tool,SkyrimBetterPerformance will work for MERP?
Both your cpu and gpu will need upgrading in order to make the game run smoother at higher settings. 4 Gb's of RAM should be enough though.
4Gb RAM is enough for gaming, you'll need a better cpu and gpu for skyrim.
A dual GPU card IMO is only good for someone who wants the best performance and hasn't any SLI/CF option. Personally, I would get a 690 given the cash, since thermals and noise output seem to be reasonable from the benchmarks. However, the 590 and 6990 were too hot and noisy (and too power hungry) for my tastes, for SLI/CF my worst nighmare is micro stutter ,since I FRICKING LOATH micro stuttering.
/end rant
Yup, microstutter is a pain in the ***, next to the extra mile you'll have to go when it comes to drivers...
*Loathe :P
Well played, Sir, well played. :P
Now that is pretty damn good. A picture like this from every region and... and people are gonna ****!

Amazing!
reallyyyy looking forward to this
Don't hate on me for not knowing anything Tolkien past the films, but what is Methadras?
a giant carrot, pretending to be the southernmost peak of the Misty Mountains
hey, we wouldn't ever hate you for such a thing :D plus, in my opinion one of the greatest things in merp is that we'll find every way to make you know always more and more things about middle earth while playing: you'll able to read lots of books talking about the history of middle earth, you'll be able to se some great weapons like aeglos, the spear of gil-galad, and so on :)
Indeed, it is the southernmost peak of the Hithaeglir or Misty Mountains. No need to fear hatin' over that, it is hardly common knowledge. In MERP, the lore will be all around you though. Bards will sing the old tales, story tellers recite accounts of great deeds, paintings and statues depict ancient heroes, and books will be there for reading up on a multitude of subjects.
If you can pull that off... then... I don't know, I think I will be just speechless. I don't understand why no big developer ever made a LotR-game that way. The way it is meant to be. Epic and complete. Not like the childish LotR Online. In my opinion that game is not true to the whole atmosphere of Tolkien's books and not in any way to PJ's fantastic visualisations. Once again: great job and good luck!
I asked myself that so many times.. all the LotR games out there are just awefully dull.
This mod fills an urgently needed space in the gaming scene, and therefore it will be one of the most appreciated gaming experiences ever. AND WILL NOT COST A PENNY. It's a dream coming true.
Yeah, but I have to give Turbine props for trying harder than most anyone else has the stones to. I think we can one-up them in many ways though ;)
will the trees be removed? (sorry if my english is bad)
Why would the trees be removed?
because there aren't enough environmentalists in middle earth to preserve them
If I'm not mistaken, trees don't grow after a certain latitude..
The tree line is quite high in reality. The trees and such will be tweaked as we go through and detail the mountains, adding the rock meshes amd clouds.
