MERP is a total conversion modification of the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Explore Middle-earth in a fully open-ended environment like you've never seen before. Play races like Elves, Men, Hobbits and Dwarves and take part in the War of the Ring.
Why follow your nose when you can find and heavily berate a Balrog with nasty words and then use his (or her? It? Best not to ask really) eternally (and rather angrily) burning flame as a source of light. As long, of course, you aren't burdened with enough armour to clothe Dol Amaroth.
Don't worry. Just follow the trail of enemies - they'd think you were heading for the exit and go there first. Or simply ask a friendly orc for directions (highly unrecommended).
I haven't visited Moria myself (been busy with the preparation for Skyrim, mainly the new heightfield) so can't comment on how big it is in 0.2.6, but I'm sure our Moria devs didn't make it small! Either way, in Skyrim-MERP it will definitely be very big, big enough to get lost in.
0.2.6 will be our last release for Oblivion, then the whole project ports to Skyrim. Right now, our team is kinda split in two, one part working on our last Oblivion release, the others are preparing for the release of Skyrim's Creation Kit which Bethesda claims will release this very month.
there might be a bloody rebellion with your oblivion devs... they are obselete and therefore need displacement immediately! upgrading all their PCs would help :L
I'm pretty sure that you go from gate-to-gate, with 20% finished Captain probably meant that it's relatively(!) linear so far compared to what the final product would look like. According to lore, Moria is a very old huge underground city, with many levels and Deeps and countless halls. It's insane how huge and complicated Moria is supposed to be. Think about 30-40 vanilla Skrim dungeons in one. We hope can get close to that with the final product. Moria is like a sub-project inside MERP.
Woah what? We don't have ten mainquests! There are two storylines that serve that function: Ringbearer (male hobbits only) and White Council (any race and gender). We have a backstory and unique START planned for each race for White Council, but after that they converge with the rest of the story which is the same for all.
Of course. It will be dificult to reach though; the location to Durin's Stair is deep in the caverns of Khazad-Dum and it is dificult to navigate those parts of the mines ;)
can you even get in the mines? I'm at durin's door right now, but they won't open. And yes, I know the password is 'friend', but there isn't even an option for that!
Remember, if in doubt, always follow your nose :P
How are you supposed to even get out of there?
Follow your nose? ^^
I don't have a nose :(
:/ I bought one yesterday...
Where?! I need one asap! Otherwise I can't find my way out!

is moria gonna be huge? like you could actually get lost in there?
I got lost in there and it's not even 20% finished :P
That sounds damn promising!
Would be soooo ******* awesome. imagine a big Moria with deep corridors and immense depths and in the deepest reaches a balrog awaits!:O

accidently jumps down a crevice
1 hour later - still falling >_>
nah, but I really really really really hope that it's really gigantic :P I don't care if I'll get lost in it and never find my way out.
'Throw yourself in, you fool of a Took.' - Gandalf
Anyway, it's be interesting to fight a Balrog on the way down o.O
Totally what I expect...
Wait, so you're developing MERP for both Oblivion and Skyrim at the same time?
Sorta.

Upgrade ALL PCs!!!!
All our devs are capable of and will mod Skyrim, except for one who isn't going to buy it any time soon.
nice!
Is it going in the skyrim version?
This version isn't, but moria in general will be. we will plan out a much better one for when we do it though!
are going to be in moria treasures (loot) like mithril armor
Moria will be really hard to get through, the compass will point you in the wrong directions in some places to make it harder for you guys ;)
Always rely on a scent :)
I only see a torch... lol
Alter your screen brightness and contrast settings then ;)
If Moria for this release wont even be 20% finished, will there at least be a proper exit door so we can attempt a fairly accurate walk through.

This looks insanely epic, the dark atmosphere of this screenshot fits Moria perfectly! I wonder what you guys can do for this mod with Skyrim engine.
"Is that one of the old ruins?"
Will they be a Balrog lurking around in this place? as well as a goblins?
the sigleplayer story is what makes my imagination spark *______*
a different one for each race :D

Out of interest can the player get to Durin's tower? where gandalf actually killed the balrog, top of the mountain, that place.
Of course. It will be dificult to reach though; the location to Durin's Stair is deep in the caverns of Khazad-Dum and it is dificult to navigate those parts of the mines ;)
Mehh.. Just follow your nose and at least stay on the main road. Moria DOES have a main road right? :P

we cannot get out.....we should have brought a map
**** that would be horrible you wander into Moria and cant get out and your lost then a bloody Balrog comes out of nowhere
