Memories of the Great War is a campaign series that began in 2007 with Rain On Ribos IV and subsequent releases of Hellgate: Ikeya and Light of Antares. Work on the final instalment Vega Must Burn began in 2019, and the old instalments are currently being updated to modern standards. Currently, Rain on Ribos IV, Hellgate: Ikeya and Light of Antares are available in version 1.1.0 of an Omnibus release – to be joined by Vega Must Burn and Aldebaran Anacrusis for version 1.2.

Yes, I am a bit late to promotional party – in fact I was late for the stream on that day too – but for some good and some mundane reasons.

This was a very nice gesture on the behalf of the folks of IllFatedGaming, and enjoyed every minutes of watching RedMageJoe sweat through some of the more difficult missions. I was quite gratified to see that there was still some enjoyment to be had in these mission from a time when I was just starting out.

RedMageJoe is still hosting a weekly Freespace 2-streaming; going through a lot of the Freespace 2 fan-communities content. This week’s upcoming stream will be on a campaign that has been quite influential on my work – Shrouding the Light.

Feel free to stop by their channel and do the usual YouTube-things if you like what you see.

Of course, I did not just stand by and watch; actually I made a bunch of notes that will serve as a round of improvements to come in the 1.1 version of Hellgate: Ikeya and Light of Antares.

Just to give you a taste: I am going to implement a new difficult scaling solution for the Mission 3 in Hellgate: Ikeya and review the AI override commands in Light of Antares. Both emerged as major pressure points during the stream.

And of course, I will have all of the text reviewed again; as I could pretty much find the age of each passage of text (and not just by the amount of spelling mistakes).
