why they feathered? In the Jurassic period it was quite hot, They did not live in the Arctic! Especially the camptosaurus is big enough to keep warm for a long time! What a mania to draw feathers for all dinosaurs in a row.Im like this mod but this craze of drawing feathers is crazy!

So your going to ignore the Emus and Ostriches which are both larger then Camptosaurus and lived in probably warmer climates then Camptosaurus

Emu and ostrich feathers make the naked areas warmer. That’s how thermoregulation with feathers works. The feathers of an ostrich will reflect the heat onto the head and legs, which is the reason why those areas lack fuzz. Feathers are better at holding heat rather than keeping cool. An animal like Camptosaurus would overheat with feathers. We also see dinosaurs like Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus being completely scaly due to warmer climates. I also want to mention Qiang et al 2017, this paper basically explains that the filaments on ornithischians are not homologous to feathers. Meaning Kulindadromeus and Psittacosaurus don’t have feathers. On the other hand we have no evidence of filaments on Camptosaurus and all ornithopods where completely scaly according to skin impressions from relatives so this is the answer. We can’t say Captosaurus had feathers. Lastly Kulindadromeus and Psittacosaurus filaments should be refereed to as filaments or just scales, like how iguana spikes are refered to as scales, but these fuzzy scales are shown to evolve divergently and are a very primitive trait. Meaning animals that where larger than Heterodontosaurs, not in the same family as Kulindadromeus or Psittacosaurus, and are in the Late Jurassic to Late Cretaceous likely didn’t have fuzzy scales like seen in the smaller ornithischians listed. So no feathers or filaments for Camptosaurus.
