Hello, folks!
During the last few days, Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat is enjoying a massive boost of players thanks to the release over Steam. This system also allows us to deploy some extra content and updates on a more regular basis and we would like to give you a small taste of what we are working on right now - this way you will know what is going to be added to the game in the near future.
First of all, and following the massive amounts of feedback received over the last months, a lot of our maps are being updated with fixes for small exploits or rough edges. The same goes for our main code base: a substantial patch is well under way and ready to be tested prior to committing the updates to the Steam version of Insurgency.
One of the new maps that are currently under development is Ins_Karam. Karam is a map set in Afghanistan. The Insurgents will be on the offensive against an ISAF camp. This is a great looking level, framed by pronounced ridges and hills, crossed by a dried-up river that provides cover and can conceal troop movements. There are also two villages protected by walls. The ISAF camp is located on a hill that overlooks one of the villages, and it's reinforced by concrete bunkers and ditches with sandbags. Ins_Karam, created by Bluestrike, has seen great progress over the last few months and it's getting ready to be tested and finally deployed to all of you so that you can enjoy it directly from the Steam version of Insurgency.

We would like also to mention the fact that the ESL Gather System now supports Insurgency. This is great news for players looking for something more than public server gameplay but that don't have a clan or a regular group of friends to play with:
The ESL Gather system is also supporting Insurgency now. You are able to find friends and like-minded people to play with. It is not focused on the competition but more on the fun and social part of gaming. It is a system with which you can find other players with whom you can play, no matter if you've got a team, no team or half a team. No matter if you are looking for a friendly match, a practice match, a 1on1 or a mixed team match.
You can check out all the information about the ESL Gather System system here. We would like to thank the ESL for their support of Insurgency and would also like to invite all of you to check out the Insurgency section of their website. You will find there information about the latest INS competitions and events, match results, and plenty of other interesting stuff!
Your links no worky :( Congrats to you guy on the huge boost and steam release tho :D
Links fixed :) Thanks!
Wait a minute. Look at the next to last screenshot!
Is that a persian carpet? They're working with Iran! Panic!
Wow you guys got popular! Keep up the great work, I hope to see more from you!
Nothing is more popular than a free game (or a $5 game if you don't have a source game).
Maybe With this newfound popularity the Insurgency team can offer a retail version of their game with next-gen engines sometime in the future al la Counter-Strike style.
'al' la Counter-Strike or 'a' la Counter-Strike :P?
the esl.eu site is down
or fixed :)
i hope that know more people play Insurgency
hey dr speilmann nice succes on the gain in popularity
(iv been playing since beta 1)
keep up the good work!
Still can't play this mod. Everytime I try to start this mod, steam say something like "this game is not awable".
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and I don't have the UAC turned on.
I had a similar problem with another game and the reason was that my antivirus program simply deleted the .exe of the mod. So maybe try to add the steam folder to your exceptions so that they are not scanned. Helped for me.
My program was NOD smart security... not too smart actually
Can't wait to see new maps and (hopefully) more weapons!
great news, u guys really deserve.
Congrats on the Steam release guys that is so awesome! I hope this sets a trend for other mods in the future - maybe we can even see some CryEngine mods get released through Steam ;-)
I've been waiting about as long and hard as one can for this glorious day to come about. Great work guys! Now that you're in with Steamworks, what are the chances of seeing some in-game achievements? Do you plan on implementing the stats bit of Steamworks in the near future?
Achievements are planned but we need to port to the orange box engine firt.
Awesome to hear that :D Keep up the awesome work.
This mod is purely great :)
