Alternative shortcut system for Planetary Annihilation.
An essential addition, I simply couldn't play the game without it. It existed before the game had a hotkey system, and it continues to be superior to the one which ships with the game.
This mod is superior to the vanilla hotkey system for several reasons:
Firstly, this mod is a one key build system. Press a hotkey, build thing. Press hotkey again, build the next thing configured to that key. Press hotkey again, build the next thing configured to that key.
Note that normally you only have multiple keys assigned to the same thing for constructing buildings; only will multiple types of factories are selected will there be different units assigned to the same thing.
The vanilla system, on the other hand, is a two key build system. Press tab key, press unit key. Over and over again. Hotbuild is SO much better than the vanilla system, especially when queuing multiple units in a row.
Secondly, the vanilla system has no mod support. If you use a custom live_game_build_bar.js (and most large mods, such as Galactic Annihilation and ModX do), the vanilla system has you screwed because it can only support 15 build items. In Galactic Annihilation, this results in only being able to build about 6 of the dozens of units and buildings in the mod. Hotbuild, on the other hand, doesn't work via the gridded system that plagues the vanilla hotkey system, meaning that it can handle any number of units that you throw at it.
10/10 an absolute must for any Planetary Annihilatin player.
