Set in the 2050's,the development of enhanced DNA sequencing and nano-technology has seen rapid advancements in cybernetic engineering. Governments of the world act as the puppets of global mega corporations. These corporations use legal and illegal means to gain more power. From 2020 onwards it was commonplace for corporations to steal, exterminate and blackmail other corporations especially where legal means are denied or are too expensive. They develop their own infiltration forces to get these jobs done above and also spend vast amounts of money on security systems and resources to protect their own interests. Hostile Takeover 2050 is a fast paced action game, which combines elements of teamwork, unique character traits for infiltrators and respawnable security guards.

An update on mod progress and announcement of an upcoming release.

The team took some time off around Christmas time, and we have come back into the mod re-energised.

Major Announcment
An Alpha release will be available mid March to show a small snippet of the game, to raise some interest in the mod pre-MSUC, and to help attract developers. This release will contain 2 wings of our first map, Arcon Research Facility, and 2 (perhaps 3) Game modes. Please be aware this release is not indicative of final gameplay or quality. This release is to gather interest (especially from artists) and show a bit of the feel of the game.

The release is still missing some art, such as gun models, and won't be anywhere near as polished as we are striving for in future versions. However to release this before MSUC we have had to leave a reasonable time distance.

Team Changes:
We lost a few members for a prolonged period over the Christmas break, but most are now back and continuing with the mod.

Unfortunately ViViD, the project co-ordinator and the man who had the initial concept has had to take a step back from the mod. He still tries to keep up to date and do some work when he can, but can no longer dedicate the time for coordinating such a large project due to work commitments.

Boris has taken over the role of project co-ordinator, and Nomadicus has taken over co-ordinator role for Arcon Research Facility.

We are still short in the art department. If you are a concept artist, modeller, texture artist or animator, feel free to contact us in regards to helping out. The aforementioned roles are the ones we most require, however, if you have other skills and would like to help out, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Coding Changes:
There has been significant progress in the code department since the last update.

Augmented reality has been implemented for the infiltrators. This gives the infiltrators constant mission information and gives them one more tool to stay ahead of the corporate security guards.

The objective system has been given an overhaul and now functions more like the original vision. Objectives are placed all around the map and a random gametype, and objective are chosen for each round. Corporate security guards will not know the current objective until it has been completed, or spot the infiltrators attempting to complete it. Corporate security guards must then prevent the infiltrators from escaping.

Map:
Arcon Research Facility has had some polish work done, however the 2 wings in the upcoming release are still not final.
