Odyssey is an open-source music resource for use in CE content, using the same synthesizers and samplers responsible for the Original Soundtrack, with the goal of providing a modders' resource of a high fidelity nature, that is faithful to the feel of the original score. Music examples and completed arrangements can be found in the mod page's Video section.

Post news Report RSS Odyssey Update: Percussion, Mockup Cutscenes Test

First attempt at the classic Halo percussion inside! See some classic cutscenes but hear some new music! (Note, just a mockup, music doesn't match the original appearances, since it's just a levels test)

THIS WAY!!!

Ready to scorpion mix your way through the battle? Be sure to wear the new percussion with you! This first attempt at the classic tribal style rhythm of the Halo theme has turned out well! It reminds me a lot of the Halo 3 Scarab/Warthog Run percussion, maybe because I went for heavy beat emphasis. This is just the first attempt, so it'll get dialed in and out to a good middle ground. Check it out!

Of a small note, I discovered that the Halo theme isn't actually in perfect "tune" to normal 440hz, it's actually very slightly under, so I will be accounting for that, going forward

ANALYZING...

I've added a few tracks in progress to a small cutscene roll that had the music removed during capture, to get a feel for volume levels, and how well these mesh (or don't) with the original cutscenes. You can hear a few below; we have the a30 light bridge, the a50 cell rescue, b30 intro and security unlock, all with some Odyssey peppered on top. What do you think?

That's all for now, but be sure to stay tuned for more updates! At the way Odyssey is currently progressing, it'll probably moved to weekly, or bi-weekly updates, to avoid moddb entry saturation. Peace out, spartans!
